Guest guest
Kristy and Lili - I get this pulling sensation you are speaking of - and a number of women on the list have posted the same. Mine turned out to be nerve/muscle problems from poor body mechanics and not adhesions at all. I've never had abdominal or pelvic surgery, except for conization when I was 23. Never had any trouble from the conization in terms of v pain and I'm 58 now. Muscles etc are cut through when surgery is performed, yes? Couldn't some of this pain, Lili, also be from the severing of those? If so, maybe this will go away in time as nerve endings heal from the trauma of being sliced? Dusty Re: Tami--Pain pump Hi Lily, Any surgery has the potential to cause adhesions. I had surgery to my vulvar area in 1997 to remove some excess skin from my labia minora on the left side and it is b/c of that surgery that I got vulvodynia but then I discovered some time later that I have an adhesion in that area as well. How I know that is b/c of the pulling type pain I get there from time to time. And at times it feels more like it's sticking like plastic (yep, adhesions can feel like that too sometimes). Hope this helps. Kristy __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Dusty, When my muscles were cut during surgery (and yes they were cut) it just hurt. The pulling for me whenever I have had it has been adhesions. The pain from my nerve damage was that of a burning and a sharp pain that felt like someone poked me with a needle. Of course surgery can also irritate nerves b/c they have to cut thru peripheral nerves too. But part of the reason my nerves have been acting up now is b/c of the endo. As for Lily, it sounds more like adhesions to me than the muscle or a nerve. But it is true that anything is possible. Also, nerves do not always heal from trauma. And the reason I know this is b/c of the damage to my nerves from the surgery to my vulvar area and that was almost 10 years ago.
