at all with the pain and symptoms?

Hi Shana. Everyone is different so you can't go by what works for some one

else. I've had 2 stents for pancreas divisum. Both stents lasted a couple of

days before severe pain returned. The first stent blocked up very quickly. The

second stent drifted out of position & caused an ulcer in my gut.

Of course you are frustrated being on narcotics, still having pain, not seeing

any relief in sight. Do you live in Canada? Do you think your health plan is

blocking your treatment options? Perhaps you should see another gastro doctor

for another opinion. You may have to settle for a lifetime of pain & narcotics,

but I agree that you would be foolish to do so without exploring other options.

Good luck, Shana.

Shana..yes, please let me know where you are from..is there any possibility

of travel if you could find a wonderful doctor? I am in Los Angeles and

have, after many attempts, found a wonderful one! He is head of the

Pancreas department (can you believe it??!!) at UCLA and he. along with the

pain management doctor he sent me to and the nutritionist, i finally feel

almost human...I would be more than happy to have you stay with us if you

want to come down and see him..you just let me know if it is something you

would even consider...and good luck!

The part that scares me about stents is what I am hearing here. I

had my first ercp and my first stent. Wow. One for one. Does this

mean that it was particularly bad? Or that this is my future? All I

know is that I was only pain free as long as the stent was in. The

minute they took it out I was right back to where I was. So I guess

I would think long and hard Shana, if I were you. But what else can

we do? That is the hardest question for me.......

Shirley,

Not that I know of. I have to go for the consultation next week.

Hopefully I will find out the answers to all of these questions that

I have. Have any suggestions for questions for them?

Be well,

christine

Ask them why they put a stent in and where did they put it. Have them draw

you a picture. Ask them if they feel the problem is solved and is so why are

you still in pain. Oh I wish I could help you more. Maybe Jang, Poncho, or

Andre could help you more. Some people in this group are nurses and have

medical knowledge. I will help you all I can. If only I knew something

about what is going on with you. Let me know. BTW do you have diabetes?
