Guest guest
Okay, I just noticed that Kris and are cysters! Me too! I just signed back onto this list last week. Please tell me your stories...you can email me privately. capsrus@... thanks...I learn so much from you guys! ~Nahla RE: My GYN visit today Yeah, Kris! I can totally sympathize with you, cyster! Many doctors seem to have an issue with patients that are willing to educate themselves and be active participants in their own healthcare. I'm still on a quest to find a OB that I like. I had an appt last week with the Nurse Practitioner of one OB. She was quite proud to point out that he delivers the vast majority of his babies...rather than pawning them off to the doctor on call. I asked how he managed this and was told that he routinely schedules inductions during the week of the woman's due date. I don't like this. He doesn't force this on anyone, but I have a philosophical problem with it. It makes me question his practice. Granted, I haven't actually met him yet, so, I'll try to reserve judgment until then. But still...makes me wonder. I had another appt yesterday with a Certifies Nurse Midwife of another OB. I absolutely LOVED her. She said her docs philosophy is whatever you want...so long as it's not a problem medically...you got it. She told be to write a list...no episiotomy, no drugs, epidural at 4cm dilated, whatever I want...and they would follow it.. as long as it was medically sound. If the doctor has reservations of any of my requests, he would talk with me about it and come to an agreement. Pretty cool, huh?! She also said that he will tell a patient if he doesn't know something, but is willing to research. I love this guy and I haven't met him! LOL!!! There's only one problem...the hospital he primarily works out of doesn't have a NICU. It's a fabulous hospital...that's where hubby and I both had our RnY's done. So, if I went into preterm labor, I'd have to go to a different hospital that's not my favorite. We have an awesome children's hospital that is 20 minutes by car and 5 minutes by air from the hospital. I just don't know. Such a dilemma... I wish you well with your new doc, Kris. It'll be interesting to see how you respond to the glucophage. I'll be praying for you! Blessings,
