Guest guest
, I was having extreme chest pains regularly at least once a month and more for about 8 months this past year. I would, also, have the heart palpitations at times. Although the chest pains were worse than the palpitations. I saw a cardiologist and was cleared of any problem. We don't know why I had such bad systems. Anyway, he gave me three tests. First, I was injected with 3 different dyes. I would have to look for my medical papers to tell you what they were. I know I had to come off of my thyroid medication for 30 days for one of theses dyes. Then I took a radio-something treadmill test and was connected to a machine. Got off the treadmill and was connected to another machine and also was given an ultrasound that day. , sorry I am not more technical, but I will look for the papers and hopefully can get back to you as to what the tests were called. We have since moved and you know how papers can get lost. It is a very scary feeling when it flutters like this. Can this be a symptom of RP or my imagination? I was at the rheumy last Thursday and he ran an EKG for this, but I won't get the results until tomorrow. Do you know what test should be done for this? I also am getting very winded lately. Any info about the heart would be helpful. Welcome to all of the new members in the group. You will find a world of support here. Guest guest
Yep. An Echocardiogram was suggested not an EKG. Heart Palpitations I was wondering if anyone in the group gets extreme heart palpitations that take your breath away? It is a very scary feeling when it flutters like this. Can this be a symptom of RP or my imagination? I was at the rheumy last Thursday and he ran an EKG for this, but I won't get the results until tomorrow. Do you know what test should be done for this? You should have an echo done of your heart. Find you a good cardiologist who knows something about RP and he will do a yearly check on you. That is what I do....Take care, Lu

Guest guest
Dear June I'm Sue P and I don't know if this will help or not . I've had alot of experience with chest pain as I used to be an ICU nurse for many years. I wonder if the nitroglycerine helped at all when you took it? How did the chest pain start? Were you exerting yourself at the time or were you just sitting or resting? Was there anything you did that made it better or made it worse? Did they ever check you r oxygen level at the time of the pain and was it normal? Did they every do a stress test on you and how did they check your heart? Did they try and medications for anxiety to see if it made any difference ? I would love to help but if you could answer these questions it might give me a clue as to what the problem might be. I'm not a doctor nor pretend to be one but I've taken care of alot of people who have had chest pain for various reasons. I hope your doing better now . Guest guest
I had them also but mostly pain I had many Echo's done the last one showed I have a Tricuspid Insufficiency (not to bad) we have to repeat the Echo's now every 3 months for a year to make sure it does not get worse, They don't think it will not that I am controlled with the Enbrel. BUT DONT TAKE CHEST PAINS LIGHTLY, there is connective tissue all around the heart and when we are sick with RP it can break down the connective tissue, they say that is what happened to me. I no longer get the Pressure and pain there anymore. P

That was the one Major thing I was scared about! You need you tricuspid valve to live.
