Guest guest
Induction is HARD. There is no getting around it. I would suggest that she drop the soda, coffee, and cheese. At least for a while. Theses are known to stall some people. Especially if you have an intolerance. Was this a homemade coleslaw? If not it probably had sugar in it. Kielbasa is a pretty carby piece of meat... lots of salt, that can cause water retention, the same goes for hot dogs. sauerkraut is pretty carby also. Have you given her the turtle menus? It may help her to see what a typical Atkins day is like during induction. The link is at the bottom of each message. Water should be 64 ounce PLUS 8 ounces for every 25 pound she wants to lose. Example: she wants to lose 50 pounds. She would need to drink 80 ounces of water per day. (64 + 8 + 8 = 80) Hope this helps... > Here is her menu for today. > > Breakfast: two eggs with ham and cheese omelet, coffee > Lunch: Quarter Roasted chicken and cole slaw, diet coke > Snack: Sugar-free Jell-O with whipped homemade cream > Snack: Mozzarella sticks, water > Dinner: Roast Beef and Broccoli, water > Dessert: celery with cream cheese, two more mozzarella sticks. another > sugar-free Jell-O, water > The previous days I drank diet RC but today I was out and had the diet coke. > Most days breakfasts have been eggs or meat and cheese. Guest guest
Sue, Tell your friend her menu looks fine, and to stick it out. Sugar/carb withdrawals are nasty, but there is no other way to get on the other side of them than to just keep on and do it. I know she doesn't believe it now, but when she gets firmly established in ketosis, she'll feel much better. She should make sure she is getting enough water, and perhaps a potassium/magnesium/calcium supplement to combat loss of electrolytes and muscle fatigue. Tell her to hang in there. We've almost all been there where she is right now, so we know it's only temporary. This is the time when the greatest amount of fortitude will be required on her part.
