Guest guest
> I've been tired, too. Is that an effect of too high BG? Seems like I'm tired most of the time. Yes, being tired is a sign of high BG. The higher mine is, the more tired I am. I ate 6 of those little candy bars before Halloween and I was on the couch and couldn't move the rest of the day. >It was also suggested that eating something in the morning to stop the dawn effect should only make the reading higher (as it would be if you eat food) and I should actually go a couple of hours longer until I ate and then take the reading. Yesterday it was 127 at 6:48 a.m. in the morning. I ate two eggs and when I checked two hours later it was 139. Then it went down the rest of the day, regartdless of meals. This morning I decided to do as suggested but was remembering it as needing to wait 45 minutes instead of a couple of hours. Even so, the reading at 7 a.m. was 126 and then at 8:45 a.m. still not having eaten, it was 142! I don't like THAT at all. I ate then and only discovered I was supposed to have waited about 2 hours after when I got back to the computer to read the old email. I can't imagine what it might have been if I'd waited an entire two hours. This is exactly what happens to me too Sky. I seem to do better if I eat something as soon as I get up. It doesn't matter if it's just protein or a very small amount of carbs and protein, but I seem to do better if I eat something immediately. Guest guest
> well....according to my doctor...who with his wife are our closest friends...they are afraid of the hypo's. Hypo's can be deadly and must be treated I think you are right on with this. There are articles all over our local newspapers around here about malpractice and doctors insurance rising forcing them out of our community. I think they are scared to death of lawsuits. My doc will usually give me what I want, but I guess she is making sure that I can handle it first. <and I am glad of this> Kat

The thing I have to wonder about is if I took another reading at 3 hours after breakfast and 4 hours after, would I see the numbers the same as they were when I waited that 45 minutes before eating. What would they have been if I could have waited the two hours after I got up? I could check, but I'm running low on lancets and I don't think I can refill any more. sky

I think docs are reluctant to prescribe insulin because it is very risky if oral agents (pills) would work as well for a Type2 individual (for Type 1 there is no choice). So what do I mean " risky " ?? . . . one can die quickly from an overdose of insulin and the learning curve is higher (with a " bad error " being potentially fatal) to use/dose it correctly. For a doc/clinic, that translates to liability, litigation, etc. . . . the very real risk of endangering a patient's life.
