Zowie's Dr appointment today .......

Well here we go her appointment went real well. I soaked her casts

off yesterday things look wonderful!!!! Dr Geitz says that on

November 27th we will go in at 8:45 am and have the x ray done to see

where exactly we are in this and then on the 28th she will have the

tenotomy done, be in the casts for 3 weeks then the DBB, I am sooo

happy. I told him all I want for Christmas is for my baby girl to be

out of these darn casts now and forever!!!She will only have to wear

the bar at night while sleeping.I dont remember for how long though I

wasnt listening to that I was soo happy when he told me when he was

doing the surgery so we could get this over and done with. Anyway

then we went to her ped's Dr and she weighs 12 pounds 2 ounces and is

23 inches long. Way to go Zo!!!!! Cool huh. LOL ANyway I am gonna go

to bed now. We have had a rough day she also had to get her 4 shots

at her 2 month baby check. UGHHH She was not happy and she has been a

bit fussy tonight too, so I am off. Good night all.

I have a question why do they have you soak the cast off? We were told that

you loose some of the correction that way and it is best to have the doctors

remove it then recast after manipulation. Also, I would question starting

using the DBB only at night but I am not a doctor just a parent of a clubfoot

child using the Ponseti Method. Best of luck and I will be saying a prayer

I am happy for you both. I think we are at very similar points.

Amelia is 9 weeks old and has had weekly casting from one week old (I

too soak her casts off myself the evening before my appointment. We

sure do enjoy that short reprieve till her appointment the next

day). She had her tenotomy done a little over a week ago and will be

out of the cast on December 5th. We are very excited. She will be

wearing the shoes full time for at least three months (maybe more)

the doctor says, then at night. Amelia also just got her 4 shots

last week and weight about 12 lbs. We live in Hawaii so I can't

wait to be able to take her to the beach for a swim...because of the

casts she hasn't been in the ocean yet!

Wow Dorothy it sounds like we have 2 baby girl about the same age here. How

interesting huh. LOL anyway yes our Dr has us soak off her casts the night

before just so that we can make Zowie's Dr appointments for that same day so

we can get a good weight check and shots if needed. We do that first thing

in the morning and then go in for casts. I have had alot of people ask me

why the Dr lets us soak them off before hand. I guess some Dr's feel that it

will screw up the manipulation or whatever but I think if my Dr was doing

this for 17 years I think he knows what he is doing right? Anyway Zowie's

feet are looking better and we cant wait to get the tenotomy done and have

the casts gone forever. YOO HOOO. Well take care it sure is nice to know

that there is someone else on this board doing the same thing we are here.

LOL ALot of people on here are using the Ponseti method which ya know I wish

we could but as far as Dr P himself says it sounds like our Dr is doing the

right thing with the tenotomy and the castings. So.... I guess we all just

have our own opinions right? Oh well then huh. Anyway take care and tell

Amelia Hi for me. Which part of Hawaii do you live in? I have been to all

parts of Hawaii when I was young.
