Guest guest
Deanna, i'm praying for you.. hang in there.. love Carol Update Hi everyone, Well wanted to drop in and give everyone an update on me... Well, still vomiting constantly... Had endoscopy on the 2nd which revealed that the sphincter valve from my esophagus to my stomach does not close, hence the reason for all the vomiting... Okay not a problem at least we finally know what's causing the vomiting... So there is this surgery called a laparoscopic antireflux surgery that can be performed on the valve, too hard to explain, you can go to google and do a search for it if you want to see what's involved... So I saw my gastroenterologist Monday and he said its not unreasonable for me to ask for this surgery but that there is NO ONE at Rochester General who he feels is competent enough to perform it on me... There is only ONE Thoracic Surgeon whom he is comfortable with to perform the surgery and he is out of Strong Hosp... UGHHHHH I hate that hosp. Anyways he says I have to have one more test before the surgery can be performed and that test is called an esophageal manometry where they stick a hose thru your nose into your esophagus and have you do swallow tests to measure the esophagus muscle, that if I have the surgery and the muscle is shot then the surgery was a waste bla bla bla... This test is also not perform at RGH in which the thoracic surgeon would have to perform with all of my health issues anyways... So he told me to call his office today, I did, and I have heard nothing... UGHHHHHHHH I will again call tomorrow morning, I honestly don't know how much more I can take... I can not lay flat or the coughing and vomiting takes over, so I try to sleep in the recliner but I don't sleep well in that so I am not getting much sleep so when I do dose off whatever time that may be I take advantage of it... I am now down to 140 pounds I weigh less now then I did when I got married and all of my clothes just hang or fall off me..... I don't mind the weight loss but the vomiting is getting a bit old, I'm to the point where when I do want to eat I look at what it is I want and wonder how it will be coming back up, so half the time I don't even bother... My gastroenterologist does not like that and is afraid I am headed either towards being anorexic or bulimic... I can tell you I NEVER EVER want to see or eat fried rice EVER again let alone hear the name of it....... Talk about leaving a bad taste uggggggggg... Now I am having a hard time speaking, it hurts, and it causes me to cough really bad, so for those of you who have tried to call me please don't take it personally if I don't answer or don't return your calls, its either I am finally asleep or that my throat hurts too bad to talk... The reason it hurts is from the inflammation from all the vomiting and has made my voice horse... SO here I suffer yet again just as I was doing so good after this last back surgery... All take care and pls keep in touch...
