Guest guest
Most of my doctors are so good, but I see the overworked pulmonologists not providing what we need. I wish they all could be like my oncologist. I had swollen lymph nodes and went to him. I felt like he would sit all day if necessary both times I saw him. He so carefully explained the size and what size would alarm him and that the only way to know for sure would be biopsy, but right now he'd just recheck with CT in three months and then, if ok, six later (now obviously getting chest CT's every three anyway). I commented to him how much I appreciated the way he explained things and answered all my questions. Now comes the words of wisdom and complete understanding. He said: " I know that anyone who comes in with swollen lymph nodes is scared. They are immediately thinking lymphoma and the worse. I would be too. So, i want to fully inform them and answer all their questions. They they have to decide what course to pursue. While I suggested to you that I would wait, I also told you the only way to know for sure would be a biopsy. Only you could know whether you were comfortable waiting. " What an attitude and understanding. It's so sad that for whatever reasons so many pulmonologists just don't do the human part of the job. How can you tell someone that they have a terminal disease with no treatment (except possible transplant) and then not feel compelled to give them all the information you can and answer all their questions? I think we take a lot of well meaning doctors (although some just are in it for the money), but we so overwhelm them and overwork them, and they end up just going through the motions, no longer doctoring patients, but reading tests and pulling the diagnoses by rote. > > > > > > > > > > Ok I made the appointment for the lung doctor thats not until > > > > January > > > > > 3rd.
