Inflight Oxygen

Using Inflight oxygen to & from Europe on my recent trip was quite a learning curve! There were 4 separate sectors of the journey & each crew was totally different in care, approach & professionalism even though the airline was the same for all flight sectors.

Overall QANTAS scored very highly from me...there was only one senior crew that I found uncaring, rude & hostile to the nuisance factor of having an oxygen passenger onboard! (0ne too many since he was in charge of the cabin for that flight!) He couldn't care less that the engineers had put the oxygen tank under a seat that also had the inflight entertainment system box stored there. I'm nearly 6' tall & had absolutely NOWHERE to stick the pins. All he had to do was to swap the oxygen box to my hubby's seat so at least there was SOME space for each of us. NOPE - too much trouble so I just had to endure a most uncomfortable night.

The crew from furt to Singapore while very charming & sympathetic, didn't come around to check the levels in the tank & I actually ran out while asleep! OOPS! All the other sectors had the crew coming with torches on a very regular basis & changing the tanks well ahead of URGENT!

My last sector from Singapore to Brisbane was exemplary: not only were they efficient, but they actually inquired if I was travelling well (that was a first!) Even the Head Shabang on the plane came three times to check on me.

I can highly recommend taking them up on the automatic offer of wheelchair/buggy assistance..in these days of security checks you just get wheeled to the head of the queue!! The security check is the same but at least you don't have to stand for ages & ages waiting your turn. The best thing was they let the rest of the & Ring Circus through with me each time!

Boy did that earn me Brownie Points with the gang! Mind you I felt like a total DORK but hey...I HATE queues!!
