They were going to send her home and get the antibiotics and a home health nurse, But the meds cost $100 a day and medicare doesnt cover any of it. Is that the stupidest thing you have ever heard, they will pay how much more to keep her in the hospital and pay for the meds but wont pay if she is treating at home. A social worker from the hospital came in and said she called everyone she knew to find a program to help pay and found nothing. If she came home we figured out it would cost about $1,400 a week after we paid for all of her meds. We just dont have that kind of money. So they moved her to a long term care hospital about 5 miles from where she was. I dont know if anybody is enterested but her phone # directly to her room is just in case anybody is. well I just pray nothing else goes wrong. My little girl cried all the way home tonight, she misses mommy-------so do I Your friend Steve

Guest guest
Steve, i am so sorry to hear Tammy has to stay in the hospital for so long. this is so hard for your entire family. just remember Tammy's job right now is to get well, she needs all her energy to fight this nasty infection. your job is to do everything else. you need to keep everyone else spirits up. your family needs you to do this. i wish there was something we could do for you. if you need to vent and scream or cry e-mail me with your phone number and i will call you. remember i go to the hospital myself on Tuesday and wont be able to talk after thatfor awhile. you are in my prayers. i dont understand everything right now but my life's philosophy is everything works out for a reason. i hope you will know your reason soon. take care Jim s. Guest guest
Dear Steve, I know it won't make you feel any better but I see this situation all the time. I have patients who are more than ready to go home but need IV antibiotics or even more simple dressing changes. They end up going to long term facilities or rehab because insurance won't cover the home care. I just don't get it. How is it saving them money to place someone at a facility? Besides, I think people do SO MUCH better when they are at home! Anyway, please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers! It sounds like Tammy is a very lucky person to have you in her life. All my best,
