Thanks for thinking of me concerning my experiences with DR Warshaw. I'm always willing to share what I've experienced with others, especially when it concerns something as critical as the surgeries available to us sufferers. As for the other stuff, I don't know about being all that " smart. " I've just been put through the ringer in my lifetime and it galls me to no end when I still hear people complaining about things I used to have to deal with over 20 years ago! Don't doctors ever learn from their mistakes? Thanks for all of the kind and thoughtful words and your words of encouragement. My daughter tells me when she hears petty complaints from people she always thinks to herself, get a real problem. I know just how you feel about all the suffering over a life time. I won't even go into my childhood because that is too far back but believe me it was really bad. As an adult I went from serious IBS to Hepatitis B which I never got over it is chronic. I have to spend my life in a wheel chair when I go out of my house. Can stand or walk very long. Very low stamina. Then ovarian cancer with all that comes with it, chemo. And now chronic pancreatitis. Pain, can't eat and on tpn which makes me sick. Many surgeries. Blood infections, etc., etc. So I do know what you are feeling. I get very angry and am angry right now. I know depression and sadness. My self esteem is at the bottom. I feel like a non person. I can go on and on but I think I have said enough. Sorry, I got carried away but I wanted you to know that I understand completely what you are feeling and I greve for you and me as well as all the other people who suffer from this disease. I hate it too!!!!!!! But please Andre don't feel alone and stay with us because we really care about you. Your Friend, Shirley

I'm just sick and tired of asking myself " Why? " I did nothing to myself to deserve this and, when I see people abusing their bodies (drinking alcohol, using drugs,...), it really pisses me off. You asked about diet and fats. Is he eating clear liquids yet? Jell-O, Gatorade, clear apple juice? It has to be clear, no sediment what so ever. If he has passed that then maybe you could try him on some applesauce. Remember no fats. That means butter, margarine, oils, red meat, mayonnaise etc. If he can eat a little try him on fish that has been cooked without any fats, oils of any kind. No stick no fat Pam would be a good source to cook the fish in. Baked potato would be good with no fat margarine. Just try to think of everything without fat of any kind. Spices are also a no for me. I really don't know how to advise you since I don't know if he can even drink water. I know how you feel about your friend. It is so hard seeing someone you care about loosing so much weight and being so sick. He is so lucky to have you and you are so kind to help him. This disease is a terrible disease. It is so painful and weakening. Ask anything you want to ask of us and we will try to help you all we can. Shirley

Guest guest
You know, I've heard that too.........and I don't know where that came from. I guess it depends on the type of wls that one has. I have NO problem " throwing up " now, whereas prior to surgery, I never did. I can tell u, that from lurking on the Graduate list for years now, I've never heard that people have problems throwing up. In fact, with RNY or any restrictive type procedure, it's easier I would think. Dee P.G. Guest guest
Merry! You're not the only one who's experienced this!!! : ) In fact, there have been a couple who got pg even before then, and one who actually *was* pg when she *had* her surgery and she was just so early along that it wasn't detected. Don't be terrified -- you're going to have a sweet lil' baby! Let yourself become excited rather than terrified. In all likelihood, you AND baby will be just fine. Our bodies are remarkable things. That being said, of course, we don't *encourage* anyone to get pg so soon, just because your own body is still in adjustment phase and probably hasn't lost all the weight yet. It's nice to be down at or near goal weight, because it seems like the comfort and ease is so much greater then. You will want to be sure that your OB/GYN isn't one of the ones who panics and tries to encourage you to terminate your baby; how needless and sad! You may just want to encourage him/her to check your blood levels and vitamins and such things on a more regular basis, and if you have problems dumping when you eat sugar (as many RNYs do), you and he may need to re-think how you go about taking the glucose test when you're a little further along. But happiest of congratulations!!! Stick around and you should get lots and lots of encouragement here. -Kris Merry wrote: >Hi all, > >I am new to your group.
