Guest guest
A trick I found that works with the protein shakes. I make them and I freeze them. Then I scrape the frozen shake with a spoon. It's so hot in CA that this makes me feel like I'm having icecream, or kind of a slushy as it melts. Hey, whatever works, right? > > > In a message dated 8/18/2003 12:27:49 AM Eastern Daylight Time, > > > funmomof2@a... writes: > > > > > > > personally can not wait to hear > > > > your interpretation of the first few days. Guest guest
, Great idea!! I will have to try that! What part of CA? I was born in Orange and lived for a while in Garden Grove. I have a friend who lives in Mill Valley north of San Fran. She is dying for me to come and visit. She goes to some kind of hands on healing/therapy and the woman said she is just dying to get her hands on a gastric bypass patient...lol Sounds like it might be fun..lol Lori - MI Open RnY 8/1/03 > > > > In a message dated 8/18/2003 12:27:49 AM Eastern Daylight > Time, > > > > funmomof2@a... writes: > > > > > > > > > personally can not wait to hear > > > > > your interpretation of the first few days. Guest guest
Lori the girl at GNC told me that even if you drank the whole 50 gm of protein at one sitting that your boby can only process 20 gm per serving at a time, so you should not count on getting all your daily protein from one serving. Guest guest
I use 100% Whey Protein from GNC has 20g per serving (but that is all we can absorb at one time) it is great! The isopure to me does not taste all that good. But we are all different in our tastes. So even tho ispure says 50g you are not getting it...only 20g of it is absorbed. Pamela 11/19/02 125 lbs gone!! Guest guest
I was wondering if anyone has tried mixing the protein powder in food? Or if you could make a healthy cookie with splenda, oakmeal, rasins and applesauce and hide some on the powder in the cookies. Is the protein powder stable when heated? Any help or thoughts would be helpful. A. B. LAP RNY 3/22/03 386/
Guest guest
Thanks for sharing that. I didnt realize or I have forgotten that was the case. This GNC American Whey protein is not bad. If you have to mix it with water though.. i dont know how it is going to taste. Thanks again for the help. I dont want to waste. This stuff is about .51 a serving, not much, but it adds up fast. Guest guest
Hi, I make the Isopure, but I do not take the whole thing in one sitting. It takes me a good part of the morning, a couple of ounces at a time. I am sure I can absorb all the protein at that slow rate. If not, please let me know. I don't really like the taste of the IsoPure Chocolate, either. I'm mad it doesnt come in smaller containers! But if I can get 50 gms of protein in 12 oz rather than 24 or more, I would rather do that, slow but sure wins the race! Lap RNY 8/12/03 11 pounds in one week, go figure! > > I found two that work well for me, but i am not picky in the least > > bit. One at walmart of all places. Guest guest
I found a protein at GNC that claims to be virtually tasteless. It also comes with recipes as this product can be mixed in cooking. I have not tried it yet. I mixed it with my apple sauce and I didnt like the look of it..lol presentation is everything.lol. They do have free samples if you want to try it first. Lori Open RnY 8/1/03 > I was wondering if anyone has tried mixing the protein powder in food? Guest guest
HI! I'm fairly new to this group, and have been lurking. I have had my initial appt. with the bariatric coordinator and have my appt. with the nutritionist and surgeon on Sept. 2nd. Anyway, I have been doing low carb for a while and have several recipes that use protien powders in them that I think would be appropriate for after WLS since they are high in protien, low in carbs, no sugar, and fairly low in calories. I would be happy to share some of them if you are interested. Guest guest
Are you just going to drink one a day as a meal? you need to get more protein in than this. I think it will be ok but only one a day. but just in case ask your doctor. My aunt went on the fast but we need more protein than that. Guest guest
Yes, it was pretty expensive. I am pre-op but was just wondering about the whole protein shake thing. I'll check out vitalady as you suggested. ThanksEleanor Oster wrote: Sounds to me like it's probably pretty expensive, for not very much protein. The herbal claims are just that, claims. Notice that they use the word "may" a lot, which always makes me suspicious. I'd say you'd be better off going to www.vitalady.com and getting a bunch of samples there. I don't remember if you are post-op, but protein is the major concern, so that's what you should look for FIRST in a shake. 14 grams just doesn't cut it in my book.> I was on > the program before and lost great--till I started eating food again! In other words, it sounds like it was just like any diet I've ever been on! Any diet works great, while you're on it. 98% of them fail. Notice that I said they fail, not the dieters.
