Guest guest
Nan, Sounds like good news and bad news. Sorry to hear about your underactive thyroid and high homocysteine. Congrats on the rest of the labs, they sound terrific! Lynn > RENANNE BAKER wrote: > > Well, I have just gotten the labs back from a screening I had drawn a couple of weeks ago. Guest guest
Well, I have just gotten the labs back from a screening I had drawn a couple of weeks ago. TSH (0.4>4.0) was a whopping 59.4 !! Which means that my thyroid is not doing it's job!! Now the bad part is I am going to have to make a Dr.'s appt, which is against my principles, lol. Being a nurse, I hate to give them my hard earned money! Good news is that although my cholesterol was 219 (after a 14 hr. fast) and my LDL<bad cholesterol> was 140(90-130).......HDL<good artery cleansing cholesterol> was 58 (35-90)......VLDL 21 (12-38)...... % ratio of LDL to HDL 2.4 (<4.0) and CHOL to HDL 3.8 (<6.0) I'm not concerned about the cholesterolof 219, because 1) it was 320 before this WOE and 2) I eat a lot of red meat, and heavy cream. My Homocysteine level was also elevated (12) when normal is 3.0-7.2. They recommended that I take a MultiVit plus 800 mcg. of folic acid daily. GOOD OLE AtKINS !!! My mom leaves for Minnesota Tues. so I will be starting STRICT induction that day and continue until I see a Doc. Guest guest
Nan, Congratulations on your cholesterol numbers. It sure is good to see you posting again! Hey, when they get your thyroid back into the normal range again, do you think it'll help you with your weight loss efforts? Seems like it would. You may find it as easy to lose weight as our good pal, Robin! When your mom leaves, and when you get back on induction, we'll be here plugging along, and you'll be more than welcome to join us. I'm considering an intensive induction period of at least a month. Terry

Guest guest
I'm sure that once I start taking Thyroid, I'll start losing better! Itcertainly helped my metabolism/energy level before. I would fall asleep in the last class every day and couldn't help it! The teacher called my mom and asked her if I was staying up all night or what? I just could NOT stay awake!! I think I'll go lower fat this time and see what happens. Sure doi hate to make that appt. tho.
