Guest guest
Donna, Well, she ended up not coming over. I made lunch for us at 11:00, figuring to tell her she was just too late. I put down about 1:00 and laid down myself. She comes into the driveway honking the horn at 1:30 to show me the shoes she bought (and give me the GF pretzels she picked up for me). THEN she called twice after that while I was trying to take a nap, the second time waking up. She asked if I was feeling bad, and I said I was still tired from the clown school, and she said " That was a week ago! " which it actually was only 4 and a half days, but anyway. I told her I had done something with her everyday this week. She said, " and you're only 38? " The only quick response I could come back with was, " You're not on 50mg of Amitriptyline. " She did the " whatever, bye " routine. But by then the nap was over because was awake. I think I'll start setting the answering machine for 2 rings while I nap and let it get it. AND THEN she has the nerve to ask to come over tonight and play cards! I said NO. I see her more than my family....and my family is me, my husband and my kids, not extended family. I did talk to DH and told him your warning. He said, " Well, I guess I need to go over there and get in her face, " because he knows how hard it is with 2 kids, and running all week is like not having in school (well, having the troubles I'm having is like not having him in school). I told him not to, though, because it always makes it worse. I just told him to be on his guard. As far as in our van, he likes to ride in the built in car seat, but I make him wear a regular seatbelt, because the harness says not over 40 pounds. I hadn't thought about the fact that maybe he wants to see out the window. Maybe they have a booster seat of some kind. Thanks for the support. She sounds a lot like my mom too. Cept my mom was SO dependent...didn't drive or EVER go anywhere her ENTIRE life without someone taking her. Up until the day she died...amazing!! She used to pull all kinds of tricks to get me up to the house. And the cold shoulder stuff was unbearable. I remember growing up, my Dad would do something wrong (he was an alcoholic) and she would go for days and days on end not speaking to him....very stressful for us kids. Even though he was wrong, I'd feel so bad for him. I'm glad you have dh in your corner. It makes it easier when you don't have that battle for sure!!! Good luck!! Guest guest
I'm sorry, , I guess I was unclear. I'm not a vegetarian. I eat meat at my other meals. But I don't eat meat for breakfast. I don't intend to go vegetarian either. It just isn't me. It was hard enough to give up pork! LOL! Thanks, Eggs every day > Hi there! I have a question. I've been wondering about this for a long while now and thought it is long overdue that I ask it. > > I eat 2 eggs every day. It's my protein. But I'm wondering if there's something else I should be doing because I eat 2 eggs every day. I thought I read in one of these discussions that eating eggs every day isn't the best thing. Now I don't believe that stuff about cholesterol, but I'm wondering if I'm creating a defficiency of any kind, or an overload of anything else? I'm not sure what I'm fishing for here. I don't take a multi-vitamin or anything like that. I'm on a few supplements to help my liver and kidneys, but other than that... nothing extra. > > Where are and Axel, by the way. Guest guest
That is so true, . I know there are others on the list that occasionally talk about giving up meat so the answer I gave you will possibly help them to stay healthy if they do. I know it is still hard for me at times to not eat the pork also. Eggs every day > > > > Hi there! I have a question. Guest guest
HI, I was wondering if anyone else has tried therapeutic litstening therapy with their child. Did you see a change? Did any of your children begin to stutter? The stuttering seemed to come from nowhere. Is this typical of apraxic children? My son began speaking in December at 2and a half. He is fairly intelligible to those who spend time with him. His SPL say don't worry and just ignore it.Any advice or input ? Thank you KIM
Guest guest
-Hi Kim, We have not done theraputic listening on a consistant basis, my son Jack 4 can't seem to handle it quite yet not enough anyway to do it everyday. He has recently started stuttering although technically it is a dysfluency that is what his prvt. slp says. She said alot of kids apraxic or not go through some sort of dysfluency before a surge in speech. Jack only does this when asking a question which can be difficult for him hence his mind is trying really hard to put the sentence in order. SHe said not to correct him, stress him out, keep things mellow. She said if it last more than 3 months, gets worse she will send me to a specialist. Make sure you check out some sites on stuttering to learn the difference, there are different names for what your child is doing, it could be just a stage, of their brain is working faster than their mouth. He does this type of stuttering, where he repeats the word over and over until he gets the whole sentence out. What is funny is his prvt. ot for DSI hasn't heard it during therapy sessions but when he comes out he starts, some days are better than others. hope this helps! Guest guest
Dear Motheringvoice, Re: bracing My mother is just now being braced for her scoliosis. She is 55 yo. Her curves, while I don't know the degrees, are much worse than mine were when I had Harrington rod surgery over 23 years ago. I don't think they expect to get much/any correction, but are instead hoping to prevent further deformity. She hasn't been braced long enough to evaluate for effectiveness. So I suppose if a patient is not willing/able to consider surgery, bracing may possibly be used to halt/slow progress. Blessings, Carla Kay Ps. 96:1,3, & 4a Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth. Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous deeds among all peoples. For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise...
