Guest guest
I am becomming curious lately about the progress and the lack of progress in 's development. First, his speech is wonderful. As long as the sentences are short, like about 4-6 words, we can understand him very well, and he was able to tell us this Christmas when he was sick. Very cool.....he actually asked me to take his temperature! But I am noticing that the older gets, the more " things " pop- up that I was not expecting. First, when was initially diagnosed at age 2, I remember telling the evaluators that the only problem had was in speech, and I truly believed that. Nothing else was wrong. Then when turned 3 years old, his speech was getting better, but I noticed some sensory issues, so we added OT to his services and acknowledged that OK, there is another thing with the speech that we need to work on. So, now he will turn 4 years old this February 29th (leap year baby) and again, we are dealing with another potential delay, that he doesnt write any letters, etc....cannot write his name, does not want to even copy letters, etc. By the way, I was talking to another mom on this list who reassured me to keep up with the pre-writing skills. The point is, when does it end? Why is it that when you get one delay working another one creeps up? Did other parents have issues with their apraxic kids writing letters? Am I expecting too much? Are boys typically behind in their writing skills? Just curious, thanks for listening to my venting again. Kim
