Guest guest
Thanks .I suppose you could say we are taking an active roll in our health care as we have found out sometimes others dont seem to do that GEO Geo/Spasms Geo, I think a lot of us get confused with what is what. I'm not even sure I got all the terms right and I've been dealing with this for 14 years. When I say spasms I am talking about the muscles knotting up and drawing tight and causing pain. Not exactly like a Charlie Horse, but similar. Mine were like on the top of my thigh and when they would go tight my whole leg wanted to stretch out stiff and it felt like the meat was being pulled off my back. I'm not sure I have or ever have had spasticity. I think that is a lot of stiffness in the limbs, especially the legs. What I think of as clonus is when a muscle gives a sudden jerk. Sometimes, just once, big or small. And sometimes a series of jerks. A hard herk can cause you to come upright from a lying position. I read somewhere about " Nocturnal myoclonus is a benign type of muscle contraction that occurs at the onset of sleep. It occurs as a twitch or sometimes as a vigorous jerk of the leg or legs. It interrupts the path to sleep. Myoclonus can be treated with a drug called Klonopin (clonazepam), if necessary. " I think it describes exactly what I am experiencing. Now I will let the experts give you better information. This is just my take on all this stuff. There is so much going on I don't know how any of us can keep all the symptoms, names, medicines and descriptions straight. Ronnie
