Threads occur when the Subject line stays the same after one <presses> Reply when responding to a post at the listserv. According to my Yahoo-knowledgable tech source, one can bypass this by: <copy>ing the email one wants to respond to, <paste)ing it into a new blank email, writing one's response, changing the Subject line slightly, and then <press> Send. There seems to also be other problems out there on the Internet, besides Yahoogroups threading problem. For example, I received 8 posts from the main WelcomeToOz list on my AOL account whereas I received 12 on my Earthlink account (the same as at the listserve). Those on Hotmail are also having problems receiving posts from the list, comparable to the AOLers.
