Guest guest
well to be honest my wife denise (dx with PLS) tried marijunana for about two months before she stopped. she was seeking relief from muscle spasms. at first she thought pot was helpful but in the end decided it wasn't helping much. she remains a heavy user of baclofin and hydrocodone for her muscle aches spasms. Guest guest
Hello, I'm just learning myself but I do have some knowledge about marijuana being used as a medicine. I don't personally like the " high " effect so I take tinctures which is made from hash oil and high in cannabinoids (THC & CBD). In regards to slowing the growth of tumors. I think the jury is still out but there is alot of information and documentaries online about this. One from the BBC stands out and I believe a study from Harvard. It is well documentated that the cannabinoids in marijuana is helping people with certain ailments like MS, chronic pain, aids, cancer and etc... For example if some one is receiving chemo and there symptons are pain, nauseau, vomiting and loss of appetite I know marijuana really helps these patients. Also, there are only 15 states that now have medical marijuana laws. I just so happen to live in Washington state which allows the use if you have certain medical conditions. For example being diagnosed with " cancer " qualifies here and I also know it qualifies in the other 14 states as one of the medical conditions one must have to get a medical marijuana authorization. Check your state laws if this is something you want to pursue. Guest guest
Don't write on this forum much was intrigued by the medical marijuana topic. Since being diagnosed with CA in Oct09 and opting for the Bracy treatment in January of this year, I've been reading up on natural treatments/cures quite a bit. One of the more interesting websites had to do with the Rick Simpson story (http://www.phoenixtears.ca/). Has anyone else heard of this guy? In any case I would appreciate any further thoughts or comments on the topic and or experience with medical marijuana (Hemp Oil).DaveP.S. I am a Yananet member. Original PSA 9.7 prior to treatment, since 5.5 in May2010. 5.7 in Aug2010. Looking for options pending my next PSA results in December. Dave, I don't know anything about Rick Simpson or about medical uses of marijuana, but I'd like to caution you that there is a tremendous amount of wishful thinking in the cancer world. It would be wonderful if we could take a relaxing smoke, or cup of tea, or healthy foods from the supermarket, and cure our cancer. And it's possible that there might even be some benefit from these " alternative " treatments. Maybe marijuana actually does something to attack cancer cells. We know it can help with the nausea induced by chemotherapy. However, personally, I think that if cannabis cured cancer we'd know about it by now. People have been using it for a thousand years and people have had cancer for all that time, but there hasn't been a flood of reports of people curing their cancer with it. There are a lot of claims on that web page like " Taken orally, the oil tends to seek out and destroy cancer cells in the body " . But you'll notice he has no citations to any evidence for this strong claim. He's got no theory of how it works, no statistics to report, no publications to cite except " High Times " , hardly the most respected scientific journal. If you want to smoke dope, well, as far as I'm concerned, that's your business, not mine. But I don't think you should kid yourself that you're curing your cancer. What I recommend is to find the very best specialist that you can find and get some expert advice. Best of luck. Alan
Guest guest
One of the ‘old boys’ back in 1997 used to smoke (tobacco) like a chimney. When asked by one of the doctors at a PCa conference why he persisted, his answer was that he was trying to cure his PCa! The joke, of course, being that if you die of anything else, you can’t die of PCa – something I nearly did a couple of years back with a heart failure episode.
