I bet you are relieved that the decision is finally made. Now onto the

practicalities...

supper?

Tell me about it.

We're already working out how much we can actually get rid of i.e. sell

before we go. This is going to be my biggest ever clearout for a NNS.

Cotbed, travel cot, etc can go. Load of Steffi's videos. Can't wait.

But the bits I really hate are dealing with mortgage co, solicitor,

estate agents etc. Financial arrangements, healthcare, etc. Bleugh!

Thank goodness Steffi starts school on Thursday and Grae is around - we

should get a lot more done.

Still a contract but for a year from the outset, rather than the usual

three months that gets renewed and renewed and renewed.... which has

always held us back from making a jump before since we can never be sure

how long we'll be away.

Now I have to pluck up the courage to phone Steffi's school-to-be head

(where she starts on Thursday) and tell her we'll be taking her out and

the end of term. And be very nice and cross my fingers that we can get

her back in when we return.

That'll be convenient for visiting the in-laws. Bit closer than USA,

anyway. Will you be setting up an NCT equivalent there with Debbie Slater?

Certainly will. Shame about Grae's mum dying earlier this year -

would have been nice to be close to her, although 'close' is a

relative term - would still have been about 7 hours' flying to see

her!

Debbie isn't too close either! I'm sure Oz could do with something

tho - they only have Nursing Mother's Assoc as far as I can find out -

even NZ has more than that!

Thanks but I doubt I will leave egroups, it being as easy to sign

up from there as here! Like Joyce, I will probably find it keeps me

sane in my first few months there.

We're planning a year initially but will have to see whether Grae's

contract is rolled over or what else is in the pipeline when we get

towards the end of that time.

Sorry to go over old ground, but I've obviously missed this while I was

away! Where and when are you going, Sue?

Melbourne, Oz!

Mentally, I'm already there. In fact, I wish I was already there!

Packing up is going to be a nightmare and I am actually dreading the

flight! Oh no, not another long haul flight.
