Guest guest
ml, cornstarch is food for yeast! My mother used cornstarch and so did we, of course. May have kept us dry, but it fed the yeast. I even tried regular body powder and had the same problem. Notice I changed the subject because yeast is very much on topic for diabetics. My bgs normalized and it was gone. Yep, me too. In fact the reason I went to the doctor was I tried a course of monistat that didn't make my vaginal YI go away and that may have been what triggered the doc to give me a random BG test which came out at 483. Congratulations, Dorothy! You have a lovely, newly-diagnosed case of DM! He gave me Terazol 7 to use with an applicator, but what really helped, I think, was a teeny bottle of powder he gave me called NY STOP 100,000U. It's a prescription med, and BOY, did it keep the external area DRY. I agree with those who suggest yogurt, but it would need to be a live culture yogurt. Most yogurt in the supermarkets is pasteurized to make it last longer on the shelf, so the cultures are dead. Alternatively, a SUPER supplement is Lactinex tablets. It's a non-prescription tablet (also available as granules, I think) of LIVE lactobacillus acidophilus bacteria. You need to ask the pharmacist for it (it has to be kept refrigerated) and she may need to order it if she doesn't keep it in stock. It works WONDERFULLY for cold sores, which is how I discovered it. A friend recommended it once when I had a terrible case of them in my mouth about 25 years ago. You know how you often get diarrhea when you're taking an antibiotic? That's because the antibiotic is killing your internal " good germs " with the bad stuff. Lactinex for a few days helps your intestinal system re-grow it's good flora and get you back on track. Great stuff, and I'm surprised it's not at all widely known. HTH! Dorothy

Helen ------------------------- I was also told NO to using baby powder for the same reason - I still use it for keeping dry - but at the slightest sign of my skin " blooming " I switch back to Desenex powder. Guest guest
This is kind of an interesting article on yeast and food allergens. Arline The vagina often reacts to circulating food allergens with increased mucus production and secondary candida overgrowth. Milk allergy, for example, commonly triggers vaginitis in both children and adults. http://www.nutramed.com/allergy/candida.htm __________________________________________________
