Hi

MY husband found out along with all of this that he has a folic acid

defiency and b12 defiency have any of you have this too. I was

wondering if this could possibly cause PLS. His right leg is

affected and he is weak in his right arm. He is going to get a brace

this week he can not be without a cane. When can it affect the

speech and swallowing? I am just trying to find out as much

information as I can this PLS.

Thank you

Bev

Hi Bev:

I'm not sure on the folic acid but I know that B12 deficiency can cause

symptoms similar to PLS. My neuro had arranged for me to receive B12

injections monthly even though I wasn't showing up as deficent. In my case

it didn't help but it may be an idea to discuss with your husband's doctor

especially if he is reading as deficient, it would be wonderful if that's

all it is in his case! I may still have the dosage here somewhere that I

was taking, let me know if that would be any help. Take care.

Many people, in the golden years, exhibit a mild B12 deficiency, because

absorption is inadequate. It does not necessarily become symptomatic in its

mildest form, but is still worth treating.
