Guest guest
Hello Tina, I was at the one list files last night and was reading about you all. Welcome and congratulations on your soon arrival. June right? On Dr, Ponseti's web sight at http://www.vh.org/Patients/HB/ortho/Peds/clubfeet/clubfeet.html has s list of doctors here and abroad that practice the method. How did you hear of Dr Ponseti? Where are you all from again? We found our about our daughters clubfoot from an ultra sound at 24weeks of gestation. Welcome again, and have a good pregnancy. Cherish the miracle of a life growing in you. Sara With daughter Ivy with a corrected right clubfoot 8/17/99 Re: [Fwd: [onelist_moderators] Sched From: FryFamille@... Hi all- I am 21 weeks pregnant and found out last week (my 20 week sonogram) that my child has clubfoot in both feet. I have a couple of questions: 1. How do I find out if anyone in my area is trained in Dr. Ponseti's method (does he train people in the US?) 2. How many of you found out that your babies had clubfoot prior to their birth? Thanks, Tina ---------------------------
Guest guest
Re: [Fwd: [onelist_moderators] Sched From: FryFamille@... Hello Tina, WELCOME I thought I posted when I first read your message. (Many times I feed and read mail) I don't see my message so I guess not. It looks as if many have responded to your first question. This a great place to get information, many are very through. (, , and Joy good links) We knew in a sonogram done at 24 weeks that our daughter Ivy had a clubfoot. The doctor must have saw a the mixture of joy (they were looking for Down's traits; which none was found) and confussion on our faces. The title clubfoot is really a misnamed. We pictured in our minds a foot that was like a stump or like a club. The doctor then showed us that all her toes, and bones where present. The foot was just turned in. Enjoy your pregnacy and the awsome mirical of a life growing in you. Guest guest
Tina, Welcome to the list! You have certainly come to the right place for support. We did not know until birth that our son had clubfeet. When he was born we were told that it was positional and did stretching exercises for a month before we were referred to a pediatric orthopedist. I agree with ...enjoy your pregnancy! It's hard not to worry, but know that Dr. Ponseti's method is incredible! Your baby's feet will be well taken care of! Kim
Guest guest
Thank you all so much for your responses to my questions! It's very reassuring to know the number of people that have gone through what my husband (Bill) and I will be going through. It was especially reassuring that many of you did know prior to birth about the clubfoot - there have been suggestions to me that there is something else wrong with my child, too - even some suggestions that showing up at 20 weeks is very early for it to " just " be clubfoot. It's good to see the number of children who " only " have clubfoot. My doctor mentioned down syndrome (and offered an amnio, which I won't do for fear something will happen) and I'll now be worrying about that too for the next four months. I am glad that I know about the clubfoot now, because educating myself on it has really calmed me down and prepared me for the numerous doctors appointments I will have to have in the future. Anyway, I'm so reassured by reading all of your comments and everything on your website that assuming clubfoot is the only problem our child will be healthy and happy. I admire all of you for the great attitudes you have. I'm praying for each and every one of you, your families, and your little one. Thanks again! Guest guest
Hello Tina and all, This is my first post. Wednesday my husband and I took our son to meet Dr. Colburn in Pleasanton, CA and learn more about the Ponseti method. had been casted by another orthopedic Dr. from 10 days until he was 2 1/2 months. We were told last week, he is now 4 months old, that he would need surgery. All I can say is we are so glad that we came across Dr. Ponseti's website and all of your web sites and very informative links. We are very pleased with Dr. Colburn and are very confident that 's foot will be corrected using Dr. Ponseti's method. His first cast using the Ponseti method and his foot is already at the straight position. I also want to say thanks to all of you for your support, especially through this last week. Tina, They did not pick up the clubfoot in my many ultrasounds, but they did tell me that 's right kidney was enlarged at my 20th week ultrasound. After many ultrasounds and having a catheter put up him at 3 weeks old it turned out to be ok. I agree with everyone else, try to enjoy these last few months of pregnancy!!
