Guest guest
I'm sure Jen started a vicious rumour that I'd jumped off a cliff but life's just hectic right now. We're on Round III with this cold, so I'm getting next to no sleep and then trying to manage a full time practice on two to three days per week. Okay, done ranting! I'm a little behind on my mail and tend to babble when sleep deprived, so bear with me. Re: mutations - Allie has both DF508. Hey and Carol, welcome back - missed those summer chats with you! A, thanks for your thoughts on the Vest; here in Ottawa, our Docs haven't been supportive of it, so it helps to hear the pro vote and I will continue to work on it. Jen, sorry no words of wisdom on the Xrays, although you know my opinion when talking to the medical profession - force them to explain, clarify, and then explain some more. It drives me nuts when they get results that they expect or that make sense to them, and do not take the time or lack the sensitivity to realize the impacts on your child and your family. I swear I will get around to developing a " Bedside Manner " course that will have to be mandatory - one for each year of Medical school (actually, I could probably just have them take the same basic course every year and hope that something sinks in) My favourite questions start with, " Can you help me to understand why/how/what ... " as this tends to put the Doc in a helping mode (most do believe that Medicine is a helping profession after all) Having said that, I'm sure my clinic thinks I'm a major pain in the FA, but they have learned to come into meetings with me prepared to explain their perspective. I still remember when the girls were born, a Doc from the NICU came into recovery and asked what level of education I had so she'd know how to talk to me! My answer: I have a Post-Graduate Degree, but since it is in Law rather than Medicine, feel free to start talking to me like I'm in Kindergarten and we'll work up from there. (I don't recall her being impressed by my answer, but she did get the message that I don't have preemies everyday) Mandy my love, I got your letter and Seth's story today, thank you it will make a great addition. I'm not sure how I'm going to compile this book because I end up in tears! The pic of Seth is great - he's sweet, must look like Dad, eh! BTW, here's a scary thought for you - our handwriting is almost identical!! And, I must tell you, my Criminology and Criminal Justice was all theoretical - no gun action, but you go girl! No experience either with the belly thing - unless of course you want to talk about mine (basically just balances out the FA)! Kathy G, I'm impressed that you got snow in NY already - I'm dreading it - hope the RSV appt went well. Kathy B, Becca had an umbilical hernia at birth and it resolved without any intervention at about six months. It's just a little disconcerting to push on it and feel the gushing underneath - yuck! Actually, for awhile she looked like a hermaphrodite (both sex organs like worms) LOL! Hope the ear infection resolves soon for you. Jordi also has one right now, but here they no longer prescribe antibiotics for ear infections. I just have to let it run its course, and hope the eardrum doesn't perforate in the process. Of course, it only bothers him in the wee hours of the morning - sleep.. what's that! Those of you waiting patiently for the " Funtime in Kingston " pics (I know you just want to check Ron out) but my system crashed on Sat. so I will get them to you as soon as I get it sorted out. In love and laughter, Mo, Mom of 4yo twin monsters, and andra (wcf) and that 2 yo, hapid child, Jordan
