Re-intros - what a great idea! Everyone should do one.

I'm Joyce, married for 14 years to Phil. We have four children,

8.5, Alistair 6.75, Chloe 3.5 and Hannah 13 months (the first list baby

LOL). Last three were born at home.

We moved to Cincinnati, OH in Dec 99 from Surrey - where I was a member of

Staines, Ashford and Egham NCT. We hope to move back in about 3 years. DH

works for a large employer over here trying his best to make life better for

housewives like me LOL. I'm originally from Edinburgh.

Being an expat, this Egroup is a lifeline to me. I think I would be driven

insane if I did not get my fix of British humour and common sense on a daily

basis. You lot are so *normal*!

Well, I'm from Reading, and I can really identify with the

isolation bit, even if this isn't exactly the middle of nowhere!?!

I moved here 7 years ago with a 1-year old and had never felt so lonely

in my life - so many people live here and I didn't know ANY of them!

Fortunately, I fell into the local NCT coffee group and it was a real

lifesaver - no email in those days, alas!

Since then I've got involved in all sorts of NCT stuff, ending in

training as an antenatal teacher (finally qualified about 18 months

ago).

Once upon a time I worked for one of the High Street banks - was working

in marketing at their HQ in Bristol when I left to start a family.

Now I can't quite work out how I ever had the time to go to work... but

then again I am also a Beaver Scout Leader in my " spare " time and I'm

hoping to be accepted for a PGCE place when applications start in

September so that I can train as a primary school teacher (NO plans to

return to banking... EVER!)

I'm about to take a deep breath and " mark as read " all the rest of my

unread NCT-coffee email as I haven't got time to go through it and I've

let it pile up... (hands shaking as I type this!!!!!)

Feeling very tired at present - accidentally got caught up in the

Reading Festival traffic coming back from the seaside yesterday - 55

minutes from Hayling Island to Reading, 3 hours (!!!!) to get from the

outskirts to home - just hoping the music isn't too loud tonight!

best wishes...

Hi, this is me!

Cerys, married to for nearly 8 years. Mum to 4 1/2 and Kieran 20

months (practically). I joined the NCT after doing antenatal classes before

was born, joined the committee a year later as postnatal support

co-ordinator and became branch chairman of Basingstoke branch a year after

that. I am currently branch chairman (until the AGM in December),

membership secretary, Experiences register holder and have just started

training as a postnatal discussion leader. I am also on the Regional

Committee for region 4 and have recently taken on the role of Area Y rep.

In my other life I sell children's clothes by party plan which I also really

enjoy doing. I have a very long suffering husband!

Hi

I'm Emma I've only been subscribed to this group for a little while so I'm

still a bit of a " lurker " . I'm married to Alan, both aged 28 & living in

Rochester Kent, but come from in & aroung Nottingham & hope to end up back

that way some day - missing family & esp babysitting. My dd Jess(ica) is

now a v grown-up (to me) 15 months & is nearly walking & never shuts up

LOL!!

We did NCt ante-natal classes joined in dec but are still sorting out

payment probs - having only received notification of membership 2 weeks

ago...

Other interesting (or not so according to dh) fact about us is that we're

now into week 4 of using real nappies & getting on ok so far

Hi Emma, welcome to the list.

> we're now into week 4 of using real nappies & getting on ok so far

I'm on my third week of real nappies, got as far as my fourth child before

anybody convinced me to give it a go (could be something to do with the

persuasive powers of this list!). We're not doing too badly though I get a

big leak which involves a full outfit change at least once a day - I think

it's probably because I'm not yet out of the disposable mentality which says

that you change as little as possible because each nappy change costs money!

My DH will have nothing to do with it.

Here's mine.

I'm Lynda, married to Stuart (10 years yesterday) with 4 gorgeous boys,

7.5, 5, Fraser 2.75, Callum 3 months. We also have 2 guinea

pigs to provide some female company for me. I joined NCT after doing

ante-natal classes before was born and was branch treasurer for 6

years before managing to pass it on and take on newsletter ed instead. I

childmind another couple of boys, Joe 7 and Eddie nearly 5 , but now that

Eddie is off to school that's just going to be an early morning and after

school job. Fraser starts at playgroup soon and I am really looking forward

to 2 mornings a week on my own with Callum. I am a novice cloth nappier and

have just got Fraser out of nappies (started 10 days ago and now he's

completely clean and dry day and night - what a star!). Click on the link

in my sig to see photos of the boys.

I'm married to for 7 years and we have 4 children.

There is 3 years (and 3 miscarriages) between and Olivia, then 16 months

between her and and 15 months between him and who is now 5

months and trying desperately to crawl but not yet sleeping through as his teeth

(has two and getting two more) are giving him a lot of grief (and me too!).

I did classes with and joined after that, but only started really joining

in the NCT since coming to didcot and meeting BM (aka Sam co moderator) and I

took over the newsletter from her last April. I did refresher class with

my last! I'm looking to give up the newsletter as I'm hoping to do a bit more

workwise.

I work from home doing some stuff on the internet very part-time.

In my previous life I was a paediatric nurse, be a while before I go back but I

only gave it up when 6 months pregnant with .
