Guest guest
Hi everyone, We are new to the site and this is our story. Hubby was diagnosed with RSD in Right arm back in Jan 2000. Very long story cut short, we are at a decent local pain clinic after several long trips to Cleveland Clinic...They want to put a SCS in but wc won't approve it and shortly after it was suggested, wc cut us off from everything. Today, March 15 was officially the 1 yr mark since they have sent us a paycheck. We hopefully go to court with wc next month but not holding our breath because we've been put off 5 times over the last 1 1/2 yrs. Finally broke down and applied for medicaid and help from the state because we are also waiting for SSI to go to appeal. Just got a letter saying judge is coming from IL to "expedite" the process. Started it over 1 1/2 years ago also. To top off the RSD, faced family tragedy around the same time so everyone including the kids were totally stressed to the max for awhile but all is starting to finally get back to "normal". (whatever that is) Then TODAY, they informed us that the insurance would no longer cover the duragesic patches so they were switching him to MS Contin twice a day. Took trips to 3 pharmacies to find the generic brand because thats the only way insurance would cover it. Thank god he had just come from a lido injection. They do offer some relief for a few weeks when used along with everything else hes on. Sorry this is long, but just got on a roll knowing people who understand will be reading this. Guest guest
Hi Tammie, I am new to the group also, I haven't even written my bio yet,(sorry everyone but I have had a bad couple of weeks)...I just wanted to say sorry about your bad experiences so far, and I pray it all works out for you and your family.. I do have the scs, actually I am on my second one, I had to go to the bigger one cause the rsd has spread to both legs. However mine was a godsend, I was in a wheelchair for 6 months before I had my implant. I maybe one of the lucky ones with it, I have not had any problems (with either surgery) except for the healing process. I hope he is able to have the surgery soon. God bless you and your family, Kelsey Gymmom67@... wrote: Hi everyone, We are new to the site and this is our story. Hubby was diagnosed with RSD in Right arm back in Jan 2000. Guest guest
Tammie - Welcome to the group and I'm glad that you think that your husband is finally getting some decent care. Now if only your insurance company would cut the garbage and permit access to the meds and treatments to assist him in achieving some comfort and relief. Please know that many of us have an SCS and can answer questions as the time (hopefully) approaches for your husband to have this done. Between all of us, I think it's safe to say that there isn't a treatment out there that at least one of us hasn't had. Barbara
