Guest guest
WOOHOO!!!! I am ALSO scheduled with Drs. Rabkin/Jossart on Monday, November 27 - right after ! We can be roomies! My consult went well, overall. I met with Dr. Jossart, the lap specialist. He is concerned about my ongoing asthma and that I am currently taking prednisone for it. Prednisone hampers the immune system and makes healing a significantly slower process. This makes surgery riskier than it already is. He asked me if I could lose weight prior to surgery (well. . .), not because it is required, but that losing even a little weight could help my breating situation during surgery. He at least dosen't me to gain weight. So, I am doing my best to eat healthier and for starters I am giving up refined sugar -- basically, no more sweets or soda. I am currently letting myself have honey and fruit juice sweetened items. My next goal is to lower my carb intake and up my protein intake. He also said that I have a round, protruding belly (as opposed to a more flat, saggy, one) and that that can make the lap surgery take longer. He said he would start lap, but if it seems that it will take longer than usual, he will convert to open, as he wants me off the table asap due to the asthma/prednisone issues. I have already made an appointment with the pulmonary doc to start working on the lung issues. Jossart said I may need a sleep test. I've read what others have gone through and I'm not looking forward to it! Mama B apapararo@... wrote: > > WOOHOOO!!!!
