Guest guest
I really need to hear from some of you who can remember what their child's speech and language skills were like when they were under two years of age? My son has never babbled very much at all, does not really try to say anything by his own initiative (he will point to something and grunt or whine, will not even try to say the first sound of the name of something , i.e. ba - for bottle). He will try to say a few words if shown a picture and asked " what is that " " who is that " , but he only really uses one vowel sound so everything is nah, bah, dah. He will not try to babble or say anything if not asked and prodded to. Does this sound similar to what you experienced with your children before they were diagnosed with apraxia? His early intervention therapist doesn't seem to know that much about apraxia and never gives me a straight answer about whether my son is showing signs of apraxia. I have had a friend who is a speech therapist suggest it as a possibility. Could anyone help me with this? Thanks Barb
