Guest guest
is it common though for people to have a hard time losing weight once diagnosed with diabetes? i originally lost thirty pounds...gained ten back and now do not seem to be able to lose any more. are there suppliments to take or something to help? i have cut carbs down alot, but not out completely...i need some it seems. i do not eat nearly as much as i did before diagnosis.i take chromium picolinate and soya lechithin wihich i have heard is good to get rid of some fat. i use cinnamon in my diet which is said to help metabolism/blood sugar. don't think i can or should go total carb-less, and wonder what is up. thanks for any info. i am new here but was on list a year or so ago. type 2 for almost 2 yrs that i know of...probably longer tho. Guest guest
In today's NYTimes (you can get it on the internet) in the Dining section Nigella Lawson gave three receipes that could easily be called lowcarb (though she didn't call them that). They're for a baked ricotta tart (crustless) which she serves with roasted cherry tomatoes and also (for when the weather is warmer!) for Vietnamese crab coleslaw. These are definitely keepers! In order to get the NYTimes on the web you do need to register...but it's free so definitely a real bargain. On days like today when (because of ice storm) I'm stuck at home and can't read it at my favorite coffee shop where I go after gym (not going today because of dangerous weather conditions, like black ice) it's nice to be able to read it online. Although I do prefer holding the paper in my hands Vicki

Vicki, They all sound great! I'll check them out :-) I was going to quit getting Gourmet Magazine, until I realized that many of their recipes are either low carb or they can be re-worked to be low carb. Today, I was looking through one of the older ones and saw a recipe for smoked-salmon and cream cheese frittata that looked low carb. Here it is on their website, www.epicurious.com, though I think I would change the 1/2 cup of milk to cream: http://makeashorterlink.com/?D24C12107 Sandy H.
