Debbie,

You will want to have the dentist prescribe antibiotics that you will take on the day he works on your teeth. They usually give me Amoxicillan, and I take 2000mg before the appt and another 1000 that night. That way no gunk that's cooking in the gumline will get out alive.

Hi Debbie, it just takes a phone call to make sure... I had a tooth pulled on mtx without any special precautions, but drilling and all that maybe different, Call you dentist in the morning and check they sometimes put you on antibiotics as a precaution....

Hey Debbie,

Having spent a goodly part of this year dashing from dentist to dentist, the

drug of choice seems to be Keflex. This is a broad spectrum antibiotic which

targets microbracteriams that affects things like dental abcesses. I was on

it for ages before and after wisdom teeth removals and all that stuff.

Good luck.

Love Aisha

Hi all -

I am going to the dentist to have a filling replaced this week.

Since I am on Methotrexate, is there anything that i should be

concerned about? Is it okay to get Dental work done on all of these

medications? Debbie T.

Hi group. I've been away for a while been a little ill again. Sometimes when I get this way I just withdraw. Well my neurologist gave me aricept to try to boost my memory but I think it started me to have diarrhea. But at the same time my rheumatologist increased my Imuran to 100 mg., so I'm not sure what is causing the diarrhea. I stopped the aricept almost 2 weeks ago but I am still having diarrhea. The doctor has prescribed lomotil for my diarrhea. I've been on it about 3 days with no results. I have lost about 10 pounds in 2 weeks and I have an appointment tomorrow to see if they can find a solution. I still have an appetite and I am trying to eat and drink plenty of fluids, but this has me very frustrated. I was reading the emails about the dentist and it peeked my curiosity. I need some general dental work such as cleaning and maybe some cavities filled but I can't find a dentist who will touch me while I'm on the prednisone. Has anyone else had this problem? Well I hope everyone is doing well and as always I will keep you all in my prayers.
