Guest guest
Sandy: Thanks a million! Now can you solve my $30 for 25 strips habit? > , > This is the ALA I take, and I ordered 4 bottles last time, > as I got a discount... repeat orders also qualify for a > discount :-) > > http://store.yahoo.com/iherb/alphasustain.html > > Sandy H. Guest guest
Winifred: I usually take my ALA about 3 times a day. With breakfast, then with Lunch, then with dinner. So I get about 900 mg a day. 600 if my BG is under good control. I have no real set time to take it. I prefer it with meals since it gives me an odd stomach disorder, like a very light " sour " stomach if I take it on empty. One thing to remember: Since it's an insulian mimic, it takes a bit of time to get going. Cinnimon takes about 20 - 40 days, I'm not sure how long ALA takes, depending on how much you take, but I think much less than cinnimon. I estimate it took me 2 weeks or so. Now my BGs are in the mid 90s most of the day. Now please note a few disclaimers: a) I've only been taking this for about 3 weeks, so I haven't gotten all the neuances about it yet. (like how much it lowers me, etc) Although one experiment I did, showed about a 18 point drop, per 200 mg. But that's highly debateable, for many reasons. Because of such, I never take it if my BG is below 90, for fear of hypo-g. I'm only a T2-D & E diabetic. If your on insulian, and/or hypo-g agents, be sure to ask your doctor first; ask about adjusting your dosages, and if it may interfer. Dr. Bernstein's web site is one good place to check for this, since I saw he is working with it on his own. (http://www.diabetes-normalsugars.com/) c) One odd side-effect I found is that it gives your urine a pungent, horrible chemical smell. A bit like plastics, or maybe rubber. But doesn't seem to cause any ill effects. I'm having a kidney test done (where you go into a bucket for 24 hours) and I'm not stopping my ALA. I'll post here what my results will be as soon as I hear. Hope that helps! > > When do you take the ALA - how long before you eat?
Guest guest
, call your insurance and ask what the max is that they will cover in a month (assuming you have medical insurance, which I pray you do.) If they say they'll override to whatever your doctor prescribes, have him/her prescribe as many as you feel you need to achieve good, tight control. For me, that recently took as many as 8 test strips a day. I'm now knocking it back to only 100 strips for my next refill, as I don't want to go on poking myself 240 times a month when I've more or less figured out what WOE works for me. I will, however, have a little 'stash' of some that did not yet get used, in case I go through a period of trying new foods, etc. SulaBlue > > , > > This is the ALA I take, and I ordered 4 bottles last time, > > as I got a discount... repeat orders also qualify for a > > discount :-) > > > > http://store.yahoo.com/iherb/alphasustain.html > > > > Sandy H.
