Guest guest
I really thought I had gotten rid of the world list moderators when I signed up over here. This is going to be my last post on this subject but since Bea seems to think she can call us liars due to the fact that everything was done off list I feel the need to respond. When I joined this list a few months ago, I made no mention of why I joined or what had happened. There had already been some posts re the World List and how unfair it appeared to them the way the members were treated. Bea says As one of the moderators of Diabetes World I have been saddened to read the comments made by various people. However, at this point I must object to the untruths being posted here. So please stop making false accusations and jumping to conclusions. Jan says sorry as I said before on the World List. I live in the USA so I can voice my opinion and that dear Bea is why I got dumped cause I wouldnt conform to Peg's daughter's birthday, Peg going to menza parties and making sure we all knew she was a member, etc etc etc. Just because Peg is a moderator does not mean she alone can talk about off topic items. Anodyne Treatments are NOT off topic. Sorry. Nor are they snake oil. Bea says Nor do most people appreciate how much we try to get people to conform to the list rules. Jan says You are right I sure dont appreciate how much you try to get me to conform. Bea says It is the prerogative of each list owner to set up the rules - Jan says And it is the perogative of each member to state why they are leaving and then leave.I was told I was put on some kind of probabtion, I have forgotten the wording and when I asked Peg about it she stated that all my emails would be pulled and read by her or you and if you all felt they were off topic or inappropriate then they got either returned or deleted. I then told Peg I didnt appreciate her Gestapo tactics and was promptly thrown off the list. No problem I have never denied that. But I sure havent taken it public either for or against the World list. I cant imagine a Dr and a darn good one from what I hear, allowing that kind of thing to happen. Bea says Some members of this list - Diabetes International - are on at least one other diabetes list which is even stricter abou chit chat. Jan says I have had no problems with any of the other diabetes lists. Everyone is courteous and kind and very helpful. There is NO one or two people that can say whatever they want to say and tell everyone else what they can say also. Bea says When one is told that something is off topic one has several choices besides dropping the topic, including setting up another list where that issue can be discussed. Jan says No thanks. I am lazy and would rather benefit from the experts lists. And I do. I truly dont post much but I sure like both of the lists that I belong too. Bea says The breaches cited in recent emails on diabetes-international are not the actual reasons the individuals were put on moderation of banned. Jan says The reason I was banned from the list is because I argued that anodyne therapy was diabetes related and I wouldnt take it lying down. I fought all the way. Bea says a. reminded that only scientifically proven methods can be discussed at Diabetes World Jan says I was told that anodyne therapy has been scientifically researched with some really good results. I did not personally do the research myself but I tend to read reports and make my own decisions. Bea says b. told that discussion on the subject considered off topic has been closed Jan says No thanks, that is why I live in the USA. Had I been talking about my daughter's birthday or the fact I went to a dog show then I would apologize and shut up. Bea says c. advised they have been been put on moderation, and will be banned if they don't comply Jan says I didnt comply, I told the moderator I didnt like her gestapo tactics. Bea says d. advised not to continue discussion about such a warning Jan says Never got one of the above, just got dumped. hehehehhe I was flabbergasted. I had belonged to the world list since its beginning years ago when rollo left Lehigh. Bea says I do not plan to say anything further on this list about this matter. Jan says Good glad to hear it. I would never have posted this if you would have not attacked me and mine. Thank God for this list. I have learned so much and have found new thoughts and ideas on control. Beas says Please stop discussing people or the rules of the DW list. Jan says Sorry Bea, I didnt discuss any one particular person until this post. And can you show me where in all the www it says one list member must stop discussing another list and their members?????? Jan Haney T2 I have had my say and I will not speak about this again. I wasnt going to speak about it at all, but I think the world list lost a lot of members and they are trying to justify thier actions. To many people were involved to not know what happened to a lot of us.
Guest guest
I need to stick my two cents in too, since I was blamed for being the guilty party and disrupting the list. Dr. Joe Prendergast began posting to world just about the same time I mentioned my pursuit of a prescription for anodyne therapy. He happens to be a famous endo who uses anodyne therapy as part of his treatment. He has also published in peer-reviewed journals. Arturo had a problem with Dr. Joe being on his list. My anodyne post got caught up in this. Dr. Joe was unsubbed. It was posted to the list that discussion about anodyne was forbidden; it somehow morphed into snake oil, or bovine feces, Arturo's favorite, that was being pushed by Dr. Joe. At this point I had received no off list communication. I took offense, feeling that I had nothing to do with Dr. Joe, except I knew of him, and I posted this. That's when I was told I was on probation - only I wasn't on probation, I was unsubbed. Peg told the list I was not unsubbed, just on probation. Bea had already answered an off list mail from me and verified I had been unsubbed. Bea, I know you don't like this, but Peg lied to the listmembers. I faced her with her lie, off list, and then walked away. Vicki was kind enough to invite me here, and I haven't looked back since, until now. This is a lovely list, I am most pleased to be here. You enjoy a freedom here that is not available everywhere else. And I would like to thank cappie, Dianne, ml and Jan for the kind words. Guest guest
Of course, you don't need an invitation to join this list...I only mentioned to Helen and others from World that this was a very friendly place with good people and alternative therapy discussions were allowed. This was the first list I joined when I became diabetic 7 years ago and it's become my " home " . That was the part that got to me, too. A select few could say what they wanted but if you disagreed or pointed out an alternate way of thinking you were " making prouncements " . Phooie on that. I think if Bea wants to be on this list then that's fine but when you listen at doors then you'd better be prepared to put up with what you hear. That's my last comment on it, too. -=SkyDancer=- Censorship always defeats its own purpose, for it creates, in the end, the kind of society that is incapable of exercising real discretion.
