Welll...your ovarian cysts may be because of your low thyroid. I have (had?)

them...and the docs wanted to do surgery, but I refused. That was a number

of years ago.

I think the birth control bills can interfere with absorption of thyroid

hormone...but that just means you'd have to take a bit more I guess.

Hi, Tigger,

Yes. You should not take them close to each other. In fact, you'd be better off

to stop the birth

control pills and use NATURAL progesterone cream.

Ovarian cysts are a problem in many women. Dr. Peat says these are usually

associated with a low thyroid condition, and that administration of thyroid

hormone can get rid of them by lowering estrogen levels and making the ovaries

produce more progesterone.

Dr. Lee's approach, on the other hand, is to administer just the progesterone

directly. He says that " natural progesterone, given from day 5 to day 26 of the

menstrual month for two to three cycles, will almost routinely " cause

disappearance of these ovarian cysts by suppressing normal FSH

(follicle-stimulating hormone), LH (luteinizing hormone), and estrogen

production and giving the ovary time to heal. Furthermore, studies have been

reported in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute as far back as 1951 in

which progesterone even produced evidence of regression of cervical tumors.

It's reassuring to know that progesterone can protect us in so many ways; but we

must all be alert to the fact that the long-range harmful effects of " estrogen

dominance " in the body are not widely recognized " .

I have some e-mails I can send you with more info if you're interested. (I have

posted them here before too.)

in Va.

Does anyone know if birth control pills has an effect on the thyroid and

other things?

I've been taking them for ovarian cysts, and am seriously thinking of coming

off them because of depression, thyroid, weight gain, fibro and chronic

fatigue. I don't know for sure if they effect the body in that way or not.

I'm afraid if I do come off them that I will have more problems with my

cysts again. I feel like I'm in the " damned it I do, damned if I don't "

phase again.

Hugs,

Tigger

Absolutely, please send. I'm on a mission now. I've learned that I have to take

my health into my own hands. I'm a very intuitive person and I know in my heart

that the doctors have me going down the wrong path. Even my chiropractor agrees

with me. Unfortunatley, he can't prescribe meds.

Hello All,

I'm new to this group. I recently tried taking Armour, but had some pretty bad

side effects. I was diagnosed with Grave's disease about 9 months ago, yet I

had all the symptoms of low thyroid, with the exception of Grave's eye

disease. Unfortunately for me, Armour made my eyes worse. I think it may be

due to the fact that I'm allergic to diary, pork and lamb. Instead of just

taking

meds for my overactive thyroid, I've been taking Tapazole in addition to

Cytomel and Synthroid. I'm hoping this will help my eye disease and increase

my metabolism, which has always been a problem. I hate the idea of being

on Synthyroid but don't really know what other natural options I have with my

food allergies.

Due to severe PMS and cramps, I've been on the birth control pill for several

years. I'm just starting to hear how estrogen can complicate thyroid disease

and am wondering if I'm doing myself a disservice by continuing taking the

pill. However, I worry about going back to a diffcult life of severe cramps if

I

stop. I'm not sure what is worse.

I have been taking my bc pill at night around the same time as my Tapazole

and then taking the Synthroid and Cytomel in the am upon waking. Based on

the last post, I'm guessing this is a bad idea!! Over the course of the last

few

months since I changed from just taking the Tapazole alone, to adding they

Synthroid and Cytomel, my rising am body temp has decreased. My instinct is

to go off the pill, but the idea of it scares me a bit. The other idea is to

increase my Synthroid and/or Cytomel as well, but I'm not sure if I can get my

doctor to agree to this.

I have a pretty dense Endo doctor who has no opinion on the pill and it's

interactions so I've been relying on sites like this for info and advice. I'd

love

to hear others take on this.

Sorry for the ramble, as I said I'm knew to the group, so I felt the need to

join in

the venting........

Hi Sammie,

How on earth did you get a dr who practices block and replace? Are you in

the U. S? I have a couple of questions for you. How did the dr prescribe the

Tapazole? I noticed you said you were taking it at night? I took the generic

form, when I first started it a little over two yrs ago. I was overmedicated

for about 9 months, went severely hypoT, and finally got a dr who started

decreasing it the way it should have been done.

Your the first person I've seen who's taken Armour along with Tapazole. Details

girl! Details! lol. :-)
