Cappee, So, in other words, you're on a diet. One you plan to keep for the

rest of your life, but a diet for weight loss or weight control and BG control

just the same.

I know that I wasn't, and I don't think others were, trying to tell you or

anyone how to eat. Just explaining our own ways, asking questions of others'

ways, as information is power, after all. We all make our own choices, after

all.

This is true for me also , but the other half of this household is on

crestor for high cholesterol counts so I often buy the " light " fat products for

his sake - then add some good old whipping cream to my portion <BigGrin>

CJ < A Grandma Again by C-Section this afternoon - little girl 6lbs 13oz!!>

If people don't have a weight problem that they are trying to deal with

& no cholesterol problems, then eat high saturated fat & enjoy all you

want.

I however don't & I don't intend to because of the high calories in full

fat food. I need to get the most nutrition out of my 1200 calories a

day & the best way to do that is to eat food which is lowest in calories

for the nutrition it provides. I also PREFER the taste of fat free

dairy & always have. Therefore I AM enjoying my food. Like CJ I don''t

eat things I don't like--I prefer to go without rather than substitute &

As a diabetic I am well aware of labels & don't eat processed foods

which are full of sugary replacements for the fats. I cook & eat very

simply, using fresh protein & veggies most of the time & I use olive or

canola oil for cooking & flavoring.

Well, it's semantics, I suppose, but to me, a diet is restricting food

choices to lose weight or keep the body at a weight the body wouldn't naturally

go

to if the restrictions weren't in place.

Yes, I know the dictionary definitions of diet include the meaning of what

someone eats, and all of us have a " diet " in that sense. I restrict carbs, but

don't consider that dieting because I am not aiming for weight loss or for

maintaining a weight that is lower than what my nautral weight would be.
