Guest guest
Debbie, I think some doctors start slow & work up. Mine just started me on 300mg 3 times a day. I haven't had any problems with it, but I tolerate drugs really well. And no, I never inhaled! Actually, for someone coming of age in the 70's, I missed the boat, drug-wise. Never even tried anything. I just didn't hang around with kids who had access to it. Now my brother, 4 years older, got into some serious drug use, LSD, pretty much everything but heroin. He got off it after about 10 years, but he was never the same. So I don't really feel like I missed out on anything. I can get pretty goofy just yakking with my friends; why spend money on drugs? Anyway, back to the original subject: I'm going to ask him about increasing the dosage, because my feet are bothering me a lot more the past few weeks. Even elevating them doesn't relieve it much. Good luck with it; hope it helps you. Rose hi all.... > Went to Mr. Neurologist today. I mentioned the " sarc " headaches > (Aisha knows what I mean) and the " new " burning sensations. Guest guest
Neurontin has worked well for me, I just had to increase my dose too. But I have to increase slowly, when I first started my doc had me going up to fast and felt heavy, almost unable to move, and spacey, (more then usual). I am going up slowly now, but almost up to 800mgs three times a day, I see some improvement. My headaches improved the most when I started on nortriptyline, that really helped out what I call head pain, its different then a headache. I hope the Neurontin works for you, but don't get discouraged, keep going up, slowly. Love and Prayers, Marla hi all.... Went to Mr. Neurologist today. I mentioned the " sarc " headaches (Aisha knows what I mean) and the " new " burning sensations. He finally prescribed some Neurontin for me. He has me starting out very slowly on it - like one a day for awhile then 2 a day and then finally 3 a day. Is that the way they usually start you on Neurontin? I don't know. They are only 100mg capsules too. Is that a small dosage? Oh well, right now I will try anything!!!!! I hope it works. Thanks for any input...... Guest guest
Thanks Rose for your help. I guess I will just have to try and be patient and see how it goes for me. I guess I was just really anxious to get some pain relief and wanted it RIGHT AWAY! But I know that usually doesn't happen with Sarcoid, does it? It doesnt help when I elevate my feet either. Anyway thanks for your advice, I appreciate it. Luv, Debbie T. > Debbie, I think some doctors start slow & work up. Mine just started me on > 300mg 3 times a day. Guest guest
I know Debbie there are days I want some fast relief, when I get this most intense pain in my left foot, small toe, then it makes a triangle from the toe out across the foot to a point then back down to the edge of my foot, it is awful, I can't stand it. I am up to 1 1/2 - 2 Vicodin for the pain, and at times that doesn't even touch. Still going up on the Neurontin. Any other suggestions anyone?? Love to all, and hang in there, Marla hi all.... > > Went to Mr. Neurologist today. I mentioned the " sarc " headaches > (Aisha knows what I mean) and the " new " burning sensations. Guest guest
Debbie, I find heat helps my feet " a lot " . I buy those therma packs, you open them and tape them in place and they last for hours, some days they are my only source of relief, you can get them anywhere, grocery store, Wal-Mart, etc. Good luck. Guest guest
Hi Marla: I will have to try that with my " Salonpas " . They are also medicated like " Ben Gay or IcyHot " adhesive pads. They are small like about 2 " x 4 " and the only place I have found them so far is Walmart by the Ben Gay and stuff like that. They come 40 to a box and the box only sells for $3.33.It's a small white box with green stripes and blue writing. They last for up to 8 hrs. They are good because you can use them whole or cut them in pieces and put them anywhere. I use them on my neck a lot. I even cut them up and put little strips on my forehead for headaches. (Doesn't look too glamourous, but oh well! It helps.) Never thought to put them on my feet though!!! Luv, Debbie T. > > > Debbie, I think some doctors start slow & work up. Guest guest
Debbie, Thanks for the advice, yours sound less expensive, I'll have to give them a try. I may be a Kay consultant, but pain is not about glamour that I am sure of. I wrap one of my packs on my left foot, stick it in an oversized slipper, and hobble around the house in one slipper, as I don't like to have anything on my feet at home, so there is no glamour there. However, I have found one of Kay products that have reduced my Sarc lesions I have everywhere, especially my arms. I put it on every night, and they are just melting away, including my chest. The stuff I am using on my face works the same way, so I love that. Thanks again for the advice, will try those too.
