Guest guest
Janice Shih Tzu hands down. They have been my breed for over 25 years, easy to train, cuddly and just a bit of maintainance [hair cut 3 or 4 times a year- I clip the hair from around their eyes, a breeze] Health wise they have been almost cost free. Guest guest
Thanks Connie - I'd thought about that breed. I came across a Shih Tzu/Yorkie mix but wasn't sure about the mix. Do you have an idea about that? Janice Re: doggie question JaniceShih Tzu hands down. Guest guest
Janice, I would take that mix in a NY minute if the dog was small. Guest guest
Janice, When our cat died almost two years ago and we were ready to take a dog, we had similar limitations to you. Small dog was a requirement, because we don't have too much space, our yard is really small, also with three kids there's not that much room in the car. We got a Schnoodle - it's a mix, Schnauzer and Poodle. Incredibly smart, low maintanance, they hardly shed, very devoted and lovable. Good luck finding the right breed for you.... Here's a website you may find helpfull. http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/abc.htm This one is on Schnoodles (sorry, couldn't help myself) http://www.desertgoldranch.com/Pages/Schnoodle_Puppies/schnoodle_puppies.htm Mojo doggie question I'm wanting to get a dog for a companion and was wondering if anyone can suggest a good breed. I'm home all day - on disability, can't be in the sun so can't do a lot of outdoor type of stuff with one and with the arthritis don't feel I can have a big dog because of being able to handle it. Just don't know what to look for. I need cuddle bug dog. Any ideas??? Guest guest
oh great - thanks a whole, whole bunch. I'm so excited to think about having a companion again. My therapist told me 3 years ago that I needed one but I just didn't want to fight my land lord, but I'm fighting him. I don't think he can deny it if it is medical related - but we will see. Thank you, thank you. Janice Re: doggie question>>> Janice>> Shih Tzu hands down. Guest guest
Oh that would be a cute combo too. I've really thought about going to a shelter and rescuing one - they will already have shots and be spayed/neutered - it is a law here - Oh I don't know - I get so confused trying to may decisions. Then I end up with nothing. Makes me so mad at myself. Thanks for your input. I really do appreciate everyone's suggestions and comments. Guest guest
Janice, I am all for the schnauzer mix. I have l0 dogs, 5 are briards that I show but my most favorite little dog was a little schnauzer ? mix. She used to wake us up when my diabetic son had low blood sugars in the middle of the night. My son died at 19 years old of a massive coronary in his sleep here at home. Little princess started having seizures shortly after and died 6 months later. Coincidence??? I loved that dog more than any other. I think a Schnoodle sounds great! Guest guest
Pugs are very sweet. My brother and his wife had one for years. He was my brother's constant shadow. Hugs, I'm wanting to get a dog for a companion and was wondering if anyone can suggest a good breed.
