What I find unfortunate is that the international drug companies price drugs higher in the US than in other countries. Most other developed countries have some form of nationalised health care, which means the government is the main bulk buyer of drugs in those countries, whereas the US remains split among many smaller buyers. The other countries have succeeded in negotiating lower prices than are available on the US. This leaves the US consumer paying more than his fair share of the cost of research and development for new drugs. The cost of drugs abroad should be higher, and the cost of drugs in the US should be lower. Until this happens, I will continue to purchase drugs from Canada.
