Guest guest
Bonnie, Welcome to the list! Obviously the lady really didn't know what she as talking about if she thought that all that stuff on your plate was carb less. She is not informed about the Atkins diet and she shouldn't have said anything about it to you. But you will find that people will have to put in their two cents worth and you have to decide what you will say to them. You can just ignore what they say or you can explain to them that people have been on this diet (WOL) for years (some under Dr. Atkins supervision) and have had no bad side effects. I just tell people that I am losing weight and have never felt better in my entire life! Keep up the good work! Guest guest
Hi all.. Well.. I 've been eating the Atkins way (mostly) about 3 weeks.. I have lost about 6 pounds.. but I do feel better.. my tummy feels flatter.. my shoulders look thinner.. I know something is happening - Yesterday I was at an inservice and I didn't know what I would do.. it was all CArbs... cheese enchilladas, beans, rice, chips, fried chimis, tortillas, except for this chicken vegetable stuff. Well I thought I could take a cheese enchillada and try to eat just the cheese but I didn't even see any when I sat down with it.I tried to scrape off the cheese. I had put just a spoonful of beans on my plate.. and picked out some chicken pieces... Well I thouhgt at least there is no sugar here.. I had to eat - I was hungry.. I did the best I could I think.. I told the lady I was sitting next to me that I was trying to eat Atkins/lo carb,, she looked at me and said,, well there aren't carbs there (on my plate).. just fat.. and " that's a really dangerous diet " why do people say such things???? anyway.. interesting isn't it?? Guest guest
Because what we're doing goes against everything people are taught, and all the government nutritional guidelines - ie. the food pyramid. We're also told that studies have shown we should eat low-fat because high-fat diets contribute to cancer and a host of other diseases. For every study that says one thing, you can find another to contradict it anyway. Should be very interesting to hear Atkins on CNN tonight - I'm sure he'll address these issues. Guest guest
Unfortunatly I didn't see Dr. Atkins on there. I forgot about it and watched Patch the movie. Then, we had a really severe thunderstorm hit through here, lights and electricity went out. Have not had a whopper like that in a long time. Kind of liked it. A waiste of money for the movie though, but storm was good...make sense? Not!!! That's ok, I march to a different beat of a drum anyway!!! I wonder if you can read about the interview on CNN'S website?????? Jen
