Kim,

Did you use DMSA or DMPS? How long did you use ALA? How high of

doses did you get to of each?

I chelated using DMSA and lipoic acid for two years. I wasn't

nearly as sick as it sounds like you were.

I am 80% better. 50% of that improvement came on the second round.

So the rest of the time it was very slow. I'm not done yet either,

and at the rate my last year went, another year wouldn't do it.

I would like to converse with people who were toxic who think they

aren't now. So far everyone I've spoken to who thinks they are over

it, are still having major things that they just don't realize are

toxicity signs.

I always follow what is working for autistic kids. Some are adding

lipoceutical or transdermal glutathione which has been extremely

helpful for some of those who can tolerate sulfury things.

I always found AdvaClear by Metagenics taken with chelation sped

things up. I now have 5 patients who have forgotten or ran out of

the AdvaClear during chelation and now say that they will NEVER do

that again. Way more side effects and yeast without it, so everyone

can tolerate higher doses of a chelator with it. The funny thing is

that AdvaClear is useless on yeast for me when I'm not chelating. I

don't think it kills yeast at all. I think it gets the mercury out

of the body faster during chelation so it isn't circulating causing

a yeast problem.

Making sure your bile production is high is important with chelation

too. I didn't pay enough attention to that myself.

I have an infrared sauna, but I never noticed that it helped. That

doesn't mean that it didn't though. I also use the sauna at my gym

because it is right next to a shower and a pool. I can shower, get

into the pool to cool off, then go right back into the sauna again.

This feels really good.

I mostly used DMSA, but did some cycles with DMPS. I've used ALA

either with DMSA, DMPS, or alone for almost 3 years. I may have taken

a few weeks off, but usually would chelate every week 3 on/ 4 off.

I started off at ALA 25mg, DMSA 25mg. I now do ALA 100mg, DMSA 100mg.

I had to slowly work up to this.

I am improved from where I started, which was practically bedridden,

couldn't stand up for more than a few minutes, totally brain-fogged,

and constant yeast infection. I am now able to keep the yeast under

control, can go grocery shopping on my own two feet, and can go

places. I can stand up for longer periods of time and can read and

balance my checkbook and do paperwork. I am still not well. Still

need to take a nap every afternoon despite sleeping all night, get

tired easily, have lingering cognitive problems, etc.

I know I am still toxic with something. It may not be mercury or just

mercury. There are some toxins that don't come out with chelation. I

find doing the sauna to be helpful and also coffee enemas.

Kim,

It sounds like you tolerate pretty high doses of DMSA and ALA now.

Do you get any side effects or feel better taking them now at the

100mg dosage? I still can't tolerate more than 50mg ALA on the

every three hour schedule. I think if you have any improvements or

side effects on the 100mg dose of each you are still moving

mercury. If you feel nothing when you take them, you are probably

toxic with something else.

It does sound like you are much better. I guess we need to start

off with being thankful of how far we've come, then waste no time in

taking detox even further. Also remember to pat yourself on the

back for being so smart to figure out how to get yourself this far.

You are one of millions of toxic people who haven't even figured out

1% of what you have.

I had a lot of adrenal symptoms, when I was most sick, like you

have. Taking a lot of taurine, 6-8 grams a day has helped me

lately. It helps regulate insulin, taking some of the burden off

the adrenals and increases bile production to further speed the

clearance of toxins.

I had also missed a B6 deficiency and feel better getting more of

that. Waking up to the taurine and B6 thing was from paying closer

attention to what supplements were being recommended in large

amounts for autistic kids.

Taking more taurine and B6 enabled me to tolerate more thiamine. I

was clearly deficient in thiamine, but I could never tolerate much

of it without it completely turning off all bile production. Now I

can tolerate more thiamine which has gotten me more out of anaerobic

metabolism and into aerobic metabolism. BTW, I don't mean bad

metabolism in the aspect of weight gain although it does affect

people this way. I just had a lot of soreness to exercise at the

level I'd like to.

Just getting my metabolism to work better with stuff I was missing

has made me feel quite a bit better (less tired, less hypoglycemic,

more able to tolerate sugar and wheat) and this all occured after I

had taken a 6 month break from chelating. I don't think I would be

deficient in these things if it weren't for the presence of mercury,

but replacing them and fixing my metabolism and detox pathways

(thiamine, taurine and B6 are all involved in detoxification) will

only help me clear mercury faster.

By the way, I was taking thiamine, taurine and B6 all along, I just

didn't realize how much I needed. Taking massive amounts of just

those things that mercury messes with most and that my individual

system was screaming for really helped a lot.

I think using sauna is another good step.

I'm with you though on the impatience scale. I think there is a

tremendous slowing down of progress on DMSA or DMPS + ALA. My

suspicion is that it is a longer than 3 year process as it stands

now, but there are things that can be safely added to speed things

up, especially paying attention to individual deficiencies and

sensitivities.

Taking whey protein helped my husband tremendously. I didn't notice

much difference from it, but we are all unique.
