Hi Joyce,

Ice numbs me for the time its on, but then seems to make me even more sensitive and the pain spirals. Have you tried heat? I am thinking not of putting heat on the vulva per se, but maybe on the muscles of the lower back, butt area where all of the nerves are going. I know that my 24/7 pain is helped by heat and flared by ice.

You are in my prayers. Don't think that this will last forever. It has been many years of 24/7 pain for me but always when it gets as bad as you are feeling it gets back to its better, yet still painful state. Some day we wil all be better.

Love,

Sandi

Please, dear Joyce, make sure there is enough padding between you and

the ice. When I use ice, I am afraid of freezer burn, other wise! I

wrap a frozen jel pack in a dish towel before applying. Sending

healing thoughts and hoping this nightmare is over soon!

PS Please get into your doctor asap!

If you can't get in to see your regular doc......contact the pain clinic

assoc. with your nearest hospital for an emergency visit. Either that or

the emergency room.

Can you try Tylenol in addition to your meds?

Sandi,Ladies,

Here I am at 3:00am in the morning reading posts and replies from all

the GREAT ladies on this site. Everyone on this board has had

excruciating pain at one time or another and your help is greatly

appreciated.

I have " Therma Care " heating pads and I put it on the lower back AND

guess what???, the pain was better in just 15 min. So I looked at the

vulva and guess what??? thr redness has improved all ready. I will

go to the chiropractor on Tues, and let him do his adjustment. And I

have an app. w/ my acupuncturest this afternoon (Monday). Will see

what she does w/ the pain.

Thank you all for your concern and compassion. I love ya all!!!

Joyce,

Are you sitting on the actual ice pack? If yes, that's the

reason for the redness. Have you ever tried a sitz bath with

cold water and mixed with something like Aveeno? If you would

like to know more about how to do this pls don't hesitate to

ask. I sometimes have to do this myself to control certain

symptoms of my vulvodynia when they come up.

Kristy :)

OH JOYCE, ;)

I'm so so happy that you've gotten some relief with that heating pad. *whew* I'm still up too and it's near 4 am , and just now reading about you, you poor thing... I'm so glad Sandi's suggested helped hon. I just pray that it continues. Good luck with your Chiropractor, just so he doesn't make things worse, *Ouch*

Sweet dreams tonight!

hugs

Dee~

Yep, heat can be a wonderful thing for some symptoms. Joyce,

the fact that the symptoms went away a bit means that you

probably have some nerve damage going on somewhere.

Kristy,

I have had back problems for 25 yrs. I have been going to my

chiropractor for @ 23 yrs. I had a very bad fall then and have

suffered since w/ FMS. So, Kristy you are on target. Do you take any

drugs for the pain, like vicodin etc.?

Joyce,

Yes, I use narcotic pain meds when I need to. But I've been

under the care of Pain Management for almost 2 years for my

vulvar issues and the nerve blocks I've been getting are quite

helpful.

I have nerve damage in my vulvar area b/c of surgery to the area

Kristy :)
