Guest guest
Kathy, OOPS I think you have my child, or else I have yours (OK I will acccept an even trade--mines a teenager) LOL ONLY KIDDING ANG (in case she reads this) hahahaha I dunno if you have followed the continuing saga of 's poop problems. It has been going on for years really. Once and only once did she ever drink the golightly. It really made her sick too but somehow we got enough in her to make it work. She was 9 I believe then, and THAT same dickhead dr (from now on I shall refer to him as DR DH) had diagnosed her with a " partial intestinal blockage " and he prescribed go-lightly for her to drink at home. He lied to Ang and told her it tastes like Gatorade. Well Ang didn't really much care for gatorade nor did she realize she would need to drink half a gallon of it. NOT only that but it tastes no where near anything like gator ade, as 's friend put it, " It tastes like sweat smells " What a buncha crap--literally as we did get enough down her to do the trick. The next day---our timing perfect as usual---we left for a road trip vacation to go to Texas. We are in southern CA. Get the picture? here we are with a 9 year old and an 11 year old and the 9 year old has to poop every half an hour of so. Not a good idea. Anyway so after that episode, **even** dr DH promised she would never have to drink it again and ever since then if she has needed it she has gotten in via ng tube in the hospital. We did do it at home once with a home care company but since then I have decided that is not safe and it is not ever going to happen again. WHY? well apparently at least one CF child has died from this, using too much golightly too quickly and this child was even in the hospital. That was all I needed to hear. I already told them if she needs golightly I must insist she get it inpatient. She needs careful monitoring and IV fluids as well---besides it is extra dangerous for her due to her prior problems with electrolyte imbalance and the kidney damage she sustained 3 years ago. We are also in a holding pattern as we wait to see the GI doc who I hope may be able to shed some light on this subject. She is to continue the miralax until she poops clear, just like with golightly only slower. We are not to stop her enzymes, but not to increase or lower them either. Whew, I think this is getting too long. Mandy, in case no one replies, a percussor is a machine which vibrates and can be used to help with CPT. Or it may be called a " personal massager " and used to ummmmmmmmmmmmm well, you know, if there ain't a man around!!! LOL. Actually the ones intended for this kind of use are a bit larger than a " personal massager " but it is the same idea. LOL one of my adult CF friends says her percussor and the washing machine are better than any day!!! ( is her poor husband!!!!!!) rofl OK OK now really Kathy, I do hope this does the trick for Felicia and you don't need any further testing or anything to determine what is going on for her. Unless you are feeling she needs some further testing to see if you can find out why this happened. if it is the first time you probably don't need to worry about it. till later, love you all, Bren -----Original Message----- >From: Kathybeela@... > >Hi everyone! From what I understand, they don't make them anymore. Funny thing, I bought it last year. It simulates clinically recognized clapping action of manual percussion. It has an intensity and frequency knobs to help you find what suits your childs needs. It is a really great thing, but Felicia would never use it. She likes the interaction that I have with her when it comes to patting her back. It comes with a U shaped applicator and pad, a 3 " applicator and a 2 " applicator...this is for when your child grows. If I can help out, let me know. NO PRESSURE! It is just collecting dust over here! Kathy Biela Felicia's mom
Guest guest
Thanks Kathy.I really just wanted to know what it was.Seth probably is still too little for that.I don't know, but I guess the manual percussers are still good for us.At least cost wise they are.I'll talk at you later. Guest guest
, Ha, I have your child! I would rather have a teenager for some reason! So, that vacation must have been miserable! I traveled from here to San Francisco this past March....Me, Gerald and the 3 kids and we nearly killed each other! I can't imagine having to stop all the time! EEEKKKKKKK! Well, the doc took her off of Go-Lytely and put her on lactulose. I started it today, so I'll know here pretty soon if it is working! Well, for now I wait! Thanks for writing! Kathy B.
