Guest guest
It may be the antibiotics for sure adria - especially if you get a yeast overgrowth because of them. It is frustrating as heck when we are perfect and don't lose. And sometimes it can be that way for weeks and months at a time and all you can do is hang on with the faith that eventually, the weight WILL come off. Just keep drinking lots of water and don't be too strict with yourself. I've proved time after time that I can not lose weight just as well at 30 carbs a day as I can at under 20 carbs a day - sometimes our bodies are just hanging on no matter what we are eating. You probably aren't truly gaining from eating the stillman stuff.. just water fluctuation that is even more annoying because you are hoping so hard for results on the scales. Ignore it. In fact, stay off the scales for the rest of the week and judge your success by how well you stick to plan even when it is getting frustrating. This is the true measure of long-term success... when the going gets tough, the tough get going... if dieting were easy, we'd all be thin... tell yourself all those platitudes because they are true. Show us what you are made of Get out in the Spring sunshine with the kids and get your activity level up a bit, drink water until it comes out your ears and relax a little. This is a journey, not a race. Right now just pretend you are taking the scenic route around the Gaspe peninsula. Take a moment to enjoy the scenery :-) {{{hugs}}} Kirstie
Guest guest
Amazing as always Kirstie, I forwarded the message to my husband (Who broke down and cheated on sunday, probably what triggered me , watching him ) I'm going to go make some cinnamon cheese danish atkins rolls, and sob, maybe i'll throw caution to the wind and have another decaf.. and *grins* I partially blame quitting caffeine for my stall, last time I quit, I stalled, started coffee again, and weight came off, could be a coincedence, but I wonder!!!! However, I will not go on caffeine ever again! these past weeks of calm (sans panic attacks) is well worth these mysterious pounds.. I think, thanks Adria
Guest guest
Adria, The antibiotics could be affecting you, so don't panic. And, as you know, even though you may want to eat to make yourself feel better, it definitely will NOT make you feel better, but worse! Just keep on keeping on. That's all I can tell you. Keep your carb intake at 20. Scour your menues to see if there are any substances you are eating this time around that you didn't last time. Perhaps they are foods you don't tolerate well, even though they may be low carb. So far, your average weight loss is 3/4 pound per week. If you can keep that up, do you realize that by the end of a year, you'll have lost 40 pounds? Whatever you do, pick something and stick with it. . . give it a fair shake. Take your measurements. Too much monkeying around with our bodies just isn't good, I think. Terry
Guest guest
Hey Adria, My suggestion would be to find that cake roll recipe that I posted (if you need, I can post it again). Instead of using yogurt, how about mixing whipped cream with some chocolate protein powder for the filling. That would help the chocolate fix, and it sounds kind of good. Maybe I will try that tonight. Gee, you know what sounds even better, making some LC chocolate ice cream for filling and maybe some almonds for a chocolate almond type of thing? I don't know why it wouldn't freeze okay. I think I am going to have to try one or the other of my suggestions here tonight. Sorry, can't help you, LOL, I'm in the midst of a TOM chocolate craving myself! Have faith, though, those darn scales have got to cooperate one of these days. Guest guest
Egads, You must post the recipe again I went to make danishes, out of eggs (foiled again) grrr, but chocolate does sound good, I'm gonna whip out the old icecream maker right now!! just cream and hot chocolate mix lowers the carbs and tastes mmmmmm, peppermint extract, ooooh la la I'm there! Guest guest
Hi, Adria. First let me say I feel for you. I know from experience there can be absolutely nothing more frustrating that stalling, especially after you work so hard and follow the program and stay soooo good >smile<. It's like " all this work for NOTHING " - BUT, it really isn't. It will pay off in the long run. Some questions and suggestions. Are you by chance losing inches? Are you pants, shoes, or underwear getting bigger (you have to hang out with the weightloss buddies I do...They walk in and announce their shoes and underdrawers are getting bigger, but they aren't losing weight according to the scales LOL)? Are you exercising? Getting in your water? Vitamins? Veggies? Have you tried writing down everything you eat and calculating the carbs. Looked for hidden carbs? I had to do this the last go round. I wasn't losing and couldn't figure out why until I started writing everything down. To my surprise, a lot of those " free " foods aren't so free. The cheese, eggs, cream, cream cheese, broccoli...Then factor in the nuts I would snack on and those innocent looking celery sticks that aren't quite so innocent...It all adds up. Once I started writing stuff down, I became more aware of what I was consuming and where a lot of the hidden and not so hidden carbs were (Well, they were hiding alright...On my booty). But, beyond that, even if you are staying within your limit, artifical sweetners can be a staller - As well as nitrates, apparently. Some people react to them the way they do sugar - It causes their insulin to spike and cravings to occur. I find I do best if I stay away from sweetners - Which is cool, because Splenda gives me a headach, anyway LOL. I usually don't eat desserts very often and find that after a few days of low-carbing I don't think about them or crave them anymore. The only other things I might suggest would be 1)slowly uping your carb count for a couple of days (last measure, I think). I have heard people say they lose weight at higher carb counts than at lower, 2) use Fitday and maybe monitor your calories and carbs, 3) If you are adjusting your carb counts for fiber (ie, subtracting fiber from your carb totals) stop and go with a straight carb count,...and/or 4) trying the elimination diet (I think that's what it's called), if you haven't already. Hang in there...Stay strong...Be good to you, and recognize all the hard work you've done for you. Guest guest
Beth, all the postive responses have calmed me down, it's frightening how I can get so deep in to that pit of hopelessness and despair, over something as silly vain as my weightloss (or lack thereof) I've been looking over my menus from november of 99, and there's not much difference, I used to use Dietwatch and I'm addicted to the USDA so I figure I've got a good idea of counts, my only veggies are lettuce, a touch of cukes, or mushrooms ...today I went nuts and had a cashew chicken stirfry with bamboo shoots, it was delicious, and probably a good 10 carbs, argh, but I felt I needed to treat myself, and those 10 carbs are going to sit better than the 300+ I can probably take in in one evening of bingeing!! As for measurements, nope, things actually feel more snug, my worry is major water retention, it seems to go up and down during the day, I'm a little nervous about it but I'm going to try some teas (like dandelion) to ease of the fluid, and once it's gone I'm going to pay more attention to what triggers it.. thanks for the kind words, everyone adria
