Guest guest
I had Epstien-Barr type mono. Although I think I've been a little hypo all my life, everything really started going downhill after that. Debbie K. Re: mononucleosis Hi Jamy, I read it in Shomon's book LIVING WELL WITH HYPOTHYROIDISM on pages 27 and 142. She writes, " ...many thyroid patients report having had serious bouts of mononucleosis, or recurrent Epstein-Barr virus, prior to being diagnosed with their thyroid problem. " reports in her book that at 17 she had mono. I would like everyone to take the poll about mono here on the board. I think that will give us a good read about any cause and effect. PS. Cindi thank you for letting us know that in the UK it is called GLANDULAR FEVER. I have never heard of GLANDULAR FEVER before, but looked it up and it is mono! Guest guest
I think what triggered mine was a bad personal/business failure! Though I had a non toxic goiter 25 years prior after my kids, I got really sick with the crisis in my personal and financial life. It was downhill from there. That was in 94. I was dxed in 2002 Jamy Patient Advocate/Board Member American Thyroid Patients Website:http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/California_Thyroid_Groups/ RE: Re: mononucleosis >>> " ...many thyroid patients report having had serious bouts of mononucleosis, or recurrent Epstein-Barr virus, My doctor thought my autoimmune hypo began with a virus about 15 years ago. He had taken a bunch of tests, but I wasn't smart enough to ask how he came to that conclusion. But 15 years ago I did have viral pneumonia in both lungs. ...joan
Guest guest
well, but I think 85 % or some very high number will test positive for having mono or eb antibodies if memory serves me. I worked with someone with a trivial info hobby and this subject came up. Anyone have the exact number?
