Hi Cindi,

I'm , I used to post here last ice age, but I have no comp at

home because I am poor. Wait...I don't have a home, either. Long

story. Too depressing. Some other time.

You are hereby only allowed 5 minutes per day on your pity pot from

now on. Otherwise you will be beaten with a rubber chicken by a

proctologist. You only get an extra 45 seconds on the pity pot when

you are within 3 days of your period.

Seriously. I get really bad PMS too.

Homicidal, I'll buy it. Here's how to releave the stress. Picture

your doctor in your mind. (I swear it works). Now, picture him

ignorantly telling you he/she/it can't help cause you have JUST

stress/its woman problems...whatever...so you says...

" don't MAKE me get the SPOON. "

Doc: what spoon?

You: I have a spoon buried out back in the yard. If you keep it up I

will have to go dig it up. If I have to dig it up, I'm gonna be

p*ssed. I'll have to beat you with it. It if doesn't kill you, you

WILL get tentus. Do you understand? And if I have to get the fork

too, its gonna be a blood bath. "

Now picture doc's face.

THis will change your whole perspective. I promise.

As for suicidal, yeah, I'll buy that too. I have on occasion wanted

to stand in a puddle and push the tweezers in a lightsocket myself.

Humor, evil humor, ironic humor, goofy humor...changes your life. I

swear it does. Pick up a copy of Carlin's Brain Droppings at

the bookstore and read it. Pop in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Think of what the bunny rabbits in this movie could do to your

doctor.

If we lost you, there would be one less person out there willing to

drive a doc insane and threaten him with a spoon. We cannot have

that. Chin up. It could be worse. Oh, yeah, and it might be easy for

ME to say. Actually, its not. It took a year of grief, stress, hate

of myself and others to wake up one morning and realize that the sun

was still rising, only I was missing out on that.

I am glad I helped your day. My ability to get online is

sporadic...but I have been there, and understand. Really. Oh, yeah,

I'm still HERE...hypo, sick, all that noise. But guess what...I GOT

it. It doesn't have ME anymore!!!!!!!!!!

You go girl.

Alright, alright, You get a full 6 minutes per day. 'Cause you are

obviously not codependant. You got it going on. But no time banking.

These aren't rollover cell minutes.

One of my favorites from Brain droppings (that doesn't include any 4

letter words):

Some see the glass as half empty. Some see the glass as half full. I

think the glass is just too big.

Seriously, a friend mailed it to me and it was the best gift.

Sometimes its mean, sometimes its sick, 90% is vulgar as all get out,

but almost all of it is hillarious.

You want an early Christmas present?!?!? 2 copies of Shomon's

book Living well with an autoimmune disease. She goes over diagnosis,

tests etc. And yups if you have one autoimmune disease it puts you

are greater risk to get another one.

So you can give your Dr one copy and say here is where you can do

your research.

Yes...if you have one autoimmune disease...such as Hashis, yes the

odds are you might have/get another one too....there could have been

another one there all the time, insidiously, that gave you

hashis....which you can have alone but is often present in the

finding of another disorder...they travel in packs...once your immune

system takes a liking to your organs and glands, its like a big

party...ESPECIALLY (don't hate me for this) if you have too much

stress

One thing the endo or PCP won't tell you...that when you have

autoimmune thyroid (or anything else for that matter)...is that the

immune process ITSELF causes fatigue and " hypo symptoms " . If no one

explained it...that you can have your immune system attack ANY part

of your body and NOT feel THAT in itself...uh oh. Endos/pcp's know

that its an immune process! autoimmune disease causes fatigue. Above

and beyond-or in conjunction with- the hypo itself.

Ever get the flu? Your immune system is working REALLY frickin HARD

to get rid of the virus/bacteria/etc. You run a fever when the system

kicks in, another defense against the invader. Many don't realize its

not the flu that causes faver. Your body does it to kill the virus.

Your immune system is what causes the fatigue when fighting off an

infection/virus/etc. Your body is working harder than it would be

while you were running the 4 minute mile. You are exhausted,

miserable, and cannot get out of bed. Your whole body aches, head to

toe. Right?

Autoimmune disease is the same thing. Your immune system has decided

that something...your thyroid for example....is an invader to be

destroyed like common bacteria. When you have a " flare up " or

an " attack " ...your immune system is pumping...you are going to feel

like you have been hit by a truck...proper thyroid meds or no. They

do not tell you this.

The adrenals try to compensate. Cortisol turns off the immune system.

So, you make more and more and more and at some point its gonna be

real high, but respond to supression tests and they will tell you

that you are OK. You aren't " OK " ...you've got an autoimmune problem!

This makes you gain weight! It also makes you need more thyroid cause

now your hormones are all bound up. Vicious cycle.

Eventually, its gonna go LOW...exhaustion. Then, your immune system

is free to do whatever it wants to do...and now you have multiple

disorders...sigh....

I'm gonna find a cure for this if it kills me! Ha!

And yups if you have one autoimmune disease it puts you

> are greater risk to get another one.

Not my most shining moment, huh? I did try to re-explain. I know it

sounds kinda falatistic what I'm saying...its not meant to be taken

that way completely. Its just kind of a thought, thrown out there

saying not to get doc tunnel vision about what comes from thryroid

and what doesn't, but in the opposite way.

I blamed all my fatigue and my aches and pain and all of it on

thyroid/adrenal/hormones. They play a role for sure and that alone is

debilitating for sure. My only point, which often I'm so anal not to

mention demented that sometimes I don't fully get there, was that

sometimes a rouge person comes along who has hypo, they are on

armour, they are on vitamins, they are doing every thing right, but

they still have bad days, they still have awful pms, they still have

all these problems...and say " why? "

" More Armour " isn't always the answer, because then these folks go

hyper and then they are disgusted and think maybe they should go back

to T4 cause now they are still not feeling well. When all the time,

Armour was the superior answer, and T4 is obviously not going to

solve the problem.

The body out of balance caused the thyroid to begin with, and the out

of balance can continue even once optimal replacement has been found,

because it was there all along.

Truth be known, I am a very ill human being. Very. Like major damage

to my internal organs kinda ill. Like my lungs are calcifying and my

pancreas also. Not to mention thyroid...which IS a major player, but

won't kill me like the other stuff will. I am also a mom, which means

there's someone who counts on my continuing existance, even when I

feel I cannot go on. I am " homeless " , no income, X is trying to take

my kid because I am trying to move to improve my life so I do not

have to live this way. 300 miles from me is friends and family who

will help support me while I get proper treatment and docs to dx me

correctly (at MY demand, with the tests I choose) and get disability

to go through. However, X feels it is more important for him not to

have to drive an extra 3 1/2 hours (he already drives 12 hours and

lives several states away-his choice) when seeing my child every few

months than it is for me to get support and treatment. So I have a

court order stopping me from moving, yet nowhere to live...its a

catch 22...

It is my goal and life ambition to be able to work, to stop the

damage to my body and to grow.

This is why the pity pot is not an option for me. No more than 5

minutes per day. I have lived there for a long time. It only makes a

person more sick. My attitude has improved my health on no meds at

all.

So, while not inspirational maybe, the truth is that sometimes the

reason behind the thyroid, antibodies, can add problems your doc will

not tell you about. And folks need to know that!

I made it all up. Its nothing but sheer nonsense. I'm completely full

of bulloney.

No seriously, I'm glad it helped. Some days are better than others,

you know? What I can tell you is that a ton of vitamins to support

the adrenals, NOT the immune system, is generally what I have found

the most helpful. Zinc helps both thyroid conversion AND the immune

system...its a catch 22...just don't overdo it....same with

C....helps with anemia but supports the immune system. The immune

system is not unhealthy when this happens, technicly. Its confused.

GIve a confused postal worker a gun and BAM BAM BAM...right? Give a

confused immune system more energy...blah blah blah!

Cindi,

Good for you! I bet that WAS therapeutic!!! You should tell that doctor who

called, " You

know if you're going to be a doctor, you really should keep up with the latest.

After all,

you do have people's lives in your hands. "

I'm so glad you did write to those doctors. That's what we have to do.
