Guest guest
Hi, In response to Mamaladybug, and for everyone looking for a good resource, I have a great book to suggest: Visual Strategies for Improving Communication. It was written for children with autism AND for children with any type of communication disorder. Basically, it teaches you how to use signs/pictures/visual cues in the child's different environments (home, school, restaurants, etc) to prevent meltdowns/tantrums, anticipate needs, and help your child communicate with you about his or her day and what he or she needs. I have found it to be extremely helpful. The author is Hogdgon. You can buy it on Amazon. I borrowed it from my EI service coordinator and just took notes and implemented ideas from EVERY chapter. Very helpful. D.
