Guest guest
?... but I still don't get how to actually *cook* meat and eggs w/o butter, fat OR oil. Bake the meat and boil the eggs.
Guest guest
Basically I use the Forman grill-or I bake my meat....I might add a tiny bit of generic Pam to the bottom of the dish....lightly coat it. No veggies are allowed, I started doing Stillman for 2 weeks....then got to Atkins on the weekends, seems to do the trick. Guest guest
Apologies up front as I am not intending to be mean-spirited in this post... instead I'm sincere in my question(s) as I truly am not a cook... I read the Stillman Support Group site/link and I just cannot fathom how I would possibly prepare my foods according to that WOE. No butter, fats or oils? How can I cook a steak or chicken (or even eggs) w/o some kind of butter or oil? No veggies and no salad (which I realize IS veggies)? So all I eat is meat and eggs, right?... but I still don't get how to actually *cook* meat and eggs w/o butter, fat OR oil. Guest guest
Marlena, To cook without added fat or oil will first of all require some non-stick pans. For eggs, if you are eating them poached or boiled, of course that involves water, so no fat would have to be added there. For meats, it's possible to pan-fry them in non-stick pans without oil or fat added. Or, you can roast them in the oven on a rack without fat or oil. For ground beef, you can crumble and fry it in a non-stick pan, and then drain it to remove the fat that is naturally occurring in the meat. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Marlena, in addition to Terry's suggestions, you could also grill the meat. Jean 190/141.5/135 12/7/
Guest guest
, I use a no stick pan for my eggs. I just give it a little sqirt of pam. It has not stopped my weight loss. It does take some planning. You can roast your meat. Laverne think spring
Guest guest
Kristie, Marlena, I have posted that web site to help. Marena, on Stillman, you lose your appettite-I use seasonings to make things taste good.Just because you don't have the butter or fat doesn't mean it will taste any better! I have lost 10 pounds doing this in the last month (on and off-Atkin's on weekends) equaling 30 since January 1st. Sure this diet is not for anyone, never said it did, but if Atkins is not helping and you hit a stall Stillman will among other diets! I have people here on my list that will prove so! These people have been very disiplined in they they eat--they want to see the weight come off, and have been doing a wonderful job not cheating--we have been doing a 2 week challenge--Stillman does have other diets to do...including a meat/ green veggie low fat low carb...amongst others. You are welcome to join, just to lurk if you like to see what we eat, and the files are a woonderful way to see other things Stillman uses for other diets... Kristie, sure the food lack fat. Doesn't mean that you can't season and use other methods to make it taste better...I do have recipes...and I have tried most....and the food is great. As a moderator, a success is a success no matter how you do it. Keep going at what works for you....just as long as you give it a fair chance. Guest guest
http://www.lowcarb.org You have to sift through the ads and stuff, but there is a link for the Stillman diet. Guest guest
Actually, it's not as difficult as you think. Take your meats, 5-8 minutes under the broiler. Hardboiled eggs, chopped up with some spiffy spices, you're good to go. If you have a really non-stick pan, you could pan fry chicken strips seasoned up good. A. Guest guest
Now nobody is saying that they will actually taste GOOD when cooked without oils and butters, Marlena ;-) Kirstie
Guest guest
Kirstie... THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! Just the idea of cooking with no added oils/fats/butter seems, well, you know, LIKE DIETING! And dieting is a no-no in my life :-) hahahahaha I'm trying to recover from a weekend of bad food choices and proud to say that last week I was in the gym 5 days and so far this week I'm " 2-for-2 " (2 days in the gym, in a row). Treadmill and weights. Lots of time on my hands so I have no excuse for not exercising :-) -Marlena > >Reply-To: Atkins_Support_List >To: <Atkins_Support_List > >Subject: Re: Stillman diet >Date: Tue, 3 Apr 2001 12:24:23 -0300 > >Now nobody is saying that they will actually taste GOOD when cooked without >oils and butters, Marlena ;-) > >Kirstie > _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

Guest guest
Kristie, Stillman does have repetition diets---one of which includes just lean cuts of meat, and green veggies....still no fats...or very low---he has yogurt only diets.....he has so many it's hard to list all....the one that is listed is his lead to fame so to say. But people go on the others for variety. I didn't mean to sound harsh...just like I stick up for Atkin's I stick up for Stillman as well. I get defensive over my "babys" LOL Suzanne<-----Popping the Midol like it is candy today---hoping not to step on too many toes! LOL

Guest guest
Kirstie and Marlena, I have no trouble at all cooking on the stillman diet. Granted I don't plan on staying on it for ever but if I want my weight to go down I had to do something. For some reason the atkins diet just wasn't working for me. One thing about stillmans is you do not have any cravings or any hunger at all. It is not a diet for everyone. Just us desperate ones. LOL My daughters land lord went on the mayo clinic diet and lost 13 llbs in 2 weeks. Laverne think spring
