Guest guest
Many chronic pain sufferers do become addicts. My ex just got out of treatment and the place was full of them, he was one of them.
Guest guest
I have to add one more thing too. I was suicidal due to pain when I first became ill and if you have no quality of life and are feeling that awful is addiction even a concern?? I guess I don't know too many chronic pain sufferers that become addicts. Many that become addicts would have with something else sooner or later anyway. If I wanted to be an addict I would just walk down the street and find a meth lab, it would be a heck of a lot cheaper and you get skinny(not to make light of this problem) buy my pain meds cost 10X the street stuff and I had to jump thru more hoops than a circus animal. Lynn No one knows your pain and has> to walk in your shoes. This is a decision only you can make for yourself.
Guest guest
That is true I am sure, but many people without chronic pain do too. Look at the meth craze sweeping the nation. It is very sad. I think it is a decision each person must make for themself with the assistance of their health care team. My doctors all get together and meet to discuss my care and what they feel is best for me. I took 6 hrs of tests before I could even meet with the pain shrink and he spoke with me for an hour before he would give his okay. I personally hate the feeling of being high and don't even like to get drunk. I can't have any alcohol now on the ms contin or I could OD, and that is just fine by me. I don't feel high and have no desire to take more than they have prescribed for me. I want to do more than lay in bed and suffer and wish I were dead. Guest guest
Speaking as a recovering alkie/addict, I personally cannot take Oxycontin or Narcotics, but if it can be monitored and it does help, I know program people who do, as long as they take the RECOMMENDED DOSE ONLY.. never more, or too much.. you can O.D. on anything!!! I understand that in that much pain, we get desperate, and right now I'm suffering from severe TMJ, and a Vicodin SURE sounds good.. but, the Naprocyn is working, so we'll see!! hopefully this splint will work.. Good luck to you! --- Lynn wrote: > That is true I am sure, but many people without > chronic pain do too. Look at > the meth craze sweeping the nation.
