I have the same problem. I just thought it was from losing almost 70 lbs but if I feel like this now at 171 I'd freeze my @ss off at 150 (my goal weight). My feet are ALWAYS cold....it's horrible to go to the movies because my feet just get numb they are so cold.....at least at home I can go run some hot water in the tub and stand in it. I don't have any advice but if you find out anything please pass it along to me.

Hi Jean

I think Raynaud's is alot worse than what I have. I just have freezing ice cube feet all the time....no pain like Raynaud's patients have. Also, my hands get cold from time to time but not painful and discolored like in Raynaud's. I've tried everything from hot water to wool socks.....my feet are just always cold.

I'm like . Since I put my weight back on I don't

have a problem. But everytime I have lost weight I have

a hard time dealing with colder temps. I know my Mom and

sis have had the same thing when they have lost weight. I'm

surprised Dr. Atkins never addressed this in one of his books.

Toni

I'm sorry that you have this problem but I'm glad to hear it isn't just me.

Dr. Atkins should talk about it in his books, definitely. I seriously have thought all winter that my apt would just spontaneously combust because I have the thermostat turned up so high.....and I feel so sorry for my poor roommate.....I go in her room and it feels like a meat locker because she has had to close the vents off LOL

Hi Carol,

I am only warm enough when the temperature is over 90 degrees, LOL. I so

know what you and are talking about. My feet just freeze too. My

hands can be that way also. I have always had cold hands and my feet have

always been worse. My friends are just amazed that my feet can feel like

ice cubes when the temperature is warm enough to warrant air conditioning

for most folks. I think there is some medical condition for this, and at

the risk of having the medical folks on this list laugh at me, I will simply

say it is some disease or syndrome that starts with an R. I just can't

remember what it is, but I think there is a debate about this really being a

illness or not. I don't know about it's status as an illness, but it makes

me extremely uncomfortable. Hot flashes don't sound so bad by comparison.

I would probably be the perfect temp during a hot flash! LOL

I believe you are thinking of Reynaud's Syndrome and I believe it is a

circulatory problem. I'll search the net and get back to you on that, Babe.

LOL, that's what I was thinking of Terry, but you know we Dutchmen

have a common name around here of Renaud and I searched on that

and found nothing, so I didn't want to look like the dumb Dutchman.

Hi ,

I think I am a little more like you, though with increasing tendencies towards Raynaud's. It seems like it gets a little more noticeable year after year, but I don't have pain per se as yet. The only pain I have is the sheer discomfort of being so cold!

I have found socks with a little bit of cashmere in them to be the warmest...

better yet, cashmere

socks with polartec slippers. I wear silk long johns under pants and shirts to

stay warm and even

wear a hooded polartec vest over a sweatshirt (which is over the silk longjohns)

with the hood over

my head (even indoors if I'm cold). I get the longjohns at Land's End or Winter

Silks (my

favorite).

If I get really chilled, I take a hot bath and soak until I get warmed up and

then dress really

warmly.

ummm.... did I say that I get cold too? And we've been keeping the house at 55°

(yes that's

Fahrenheit!) And drinking a gallon of ice water every day! I've been really

cold. really really

cold. That's why I bought the cashmere socks, polartec and long underwear.

Helps a lot. Cheaper

than paying the gas company.

Carol try taking ceyenne pepper pills. You can buy them in a health food

store. Might help warm you up and its also supposed to speed up your

metabolism.

My husband is the same way. His feet are always cold. This winter he

started putting a lotion on this feet every night and it has helped

tremendously. It is Bare Feet -- peppermint.

Just thought it might help.

Check at Wal Mart, or any drug store, in the diabetic section. They have some

foot creams there that are formulated to increase cirulation. The feet are a

great concern for diabetics.
