Jan,

That is where I'M lucky. My Pain Doctor has Gone and Seen and talked to Dr. Schwartzman like 15 years ago....and still keeps in contact with him.

Dr. S actually uses one of the Treatments that my doctor came up with, because he had a 90% success rate in lowering his Patients pain levels for more than 6 months at a time, each time they have had these treatments.

Unfortunately...I'm in one of those 10% that it doesn't work on....

But, he's even showed me papers from Dr. S, and he even has a picture of them together. So, I know he's not pulling my leg...

AND, my Doctor brought up Dr. S's name! I never said a single thing about him, any info I've read or anything, and my Dr. told me about all of this.

So, I do have a good feeling that I am in really good hands with my Dr.

Actually Lin, I think that at the time Dr. S said that, he had never heard of anyone getting RSD Without an injury.

Either that, or, maybe he thinks that an Old Injury that you forget about could cause it? I know that myself, even though I have injured myself before, bad enough that I have had to have x-rays to make sure I didn't break a bone......the RSD never showed up in that area for 2 more years after that. When it did show up, I had no injury at that time for it to spread to that area.

It happened because of an injury 2 years earlier.

If I remember right, your's started in your Chest right? You could have had a cold, or pnemonia or something that could have caused the RSD. You just never know.

Pnemonia creates scar tissue in your lungs.....or, maybe you slightly pulled a muscle that you didn't know about....

There are so many different things that can cause RSD.

But, I do think that when Dr. S had written that, he himself, had not had a patient who's RSD hadn't been caused by some type of injury.....whether it was a cut, a bruise, or surgery or wound.

Mine was caused by a deep bruise. Nothing, not even the blood pooling to cause that bruise, showed up on any thing. X-rays, MRI's, Bone Scans......all came up Normal according to the W/C quacks I had been seeing at that time. I had no choice but to see only them thanks to the way Iowa has it set up.

Hi all,

I just read the article that Sandi sent and in it they quote Dr Schwartzman as saying that RSD always starts with an injury, yet in all the research I have read there are some instances that come from no injury, Hello, this is me. So do you think he was misquoted or is this something that he believes?

Ok, after reading some stuff, RSD can start from any Soft Tissue Damage. Which, is actually how mine started...

The Soft Tissue in the back of my knee was bruised from the bumper of the car that was going 4 mph when it hit me. Otherwise, I also had no Visual Injuries either.

As for the mowing not disturbing anything.....well, as usual, it waited to hit. Right now, my whole back and neck is killing me so bad, that I'm scared to lay down! I barely was able to get out of bed this morning.....and that was before it hit. Now, I really doubt if I'd be able to no matter what.

I have an E-mail program called Incredimail. You can use it with either OutLook Express or Hotmail (although, hotmail doesn't have enough storage to get any emails with pictures in them). If your ISP has their own Email addresses that they give you to use.....you can use Incredimail with it. What you do, is when you connect online, all of your emails in your regular email account downloads into Incredimail. Then, when you go to Send an email, it automatically goes thru your regular account, just like you was using it and only it.

But, you can download anything almost that has been made for it. Its really fun! You can make your own backgrounds if you get the Premium one and use Letter Creator.....or, you can download this print thing and make your own Name Tag things.

Hey Tonia,

Thanks for the information, mine started in my left knee, so it could have been a small injury from one of my races that I never paid any attention to it.

I loved your I am not grumpy lady where do you find those things?

I am just so relieved that this stuff hasn't started climbing up my spine you just can't believe it, even though my pain level hasn't dropped I am doing better, knowing that a muscle spasm will work itself out. I know my doctor was relieved.

I hope your lawn mowing didn't stir anything up, I am glad you got some of your tan back, looks like it maybe sunny here today, maybe I'll go sit outside and actually get a tan LOL.

hope you are having a good pain day,

Lin
