For anyone in or near Bucks County, PA, I contacted " Special Equestrians " in

Warrington, PA, regarding their Hippotherapy program. Mail information should

be arriving to me shortly.

The cost for the 12 week program is $560. The majority of the training is OT

based. Their program runs all year round, with 3 separate sessions. Sounds

very interesting, and I'm looking forward to signing Jordan up for this.

I got to see the positive effects first hand with my daughter, however only in

hindsight. She was 2 1/2 when she started horseback riding, and only began

because our babysitters parents owned a horse farm. The sisters taught

horseback to children. She rode, and excelled. Actually took a blue ribbon in

her class at 4 years of age. As we look back on this, her sensory issues, and

her stuttering stopped at the age of 3.5......now realizing that it truly was

the " hippotherapy " that most likely caused these profound changes. She was

never dx with global or verbal apraxia (which I do believe she has residual

problems from the global apraxia) or sensory integration disorder (which she had

SEVERELY.....could not even TOUCH her hair....) When we look back, we

remembered how her focus when she was on that horse was so intense.....how she

was so able to keep attentive to follow instructions, and GIVE them to the

horse.....at such a young age. This is one therapy I am, without a doubt, sold

on.
